About the Market Analysis Expertise Center

Market Analysis is an expertise center within S&EM, and more specifically within the Energy Management operational domain. Its mission is to support ENGIE in successfully navigating the energy transition through advanced insights and analysis.

Market Analysis provides a broad range of energy-market-related services, including:

  • Price forecasting
  • Supply and demand analysis
  • Weather and climate analysis
  • Asset valuation
  • Strategic studies
  • Environmental economics
  • Regulation and market design

The team's expertise covers electricity and all types of gases (natural gas, LNG, biomethane, hydrogen, liquid hydrogen, e-LNG, etc.), across both short-term and long-term horizons up to 2050, and for all of ENGIE's key markets. The objective is to develop state-of-the-art methodologies to anticipate the challenges of the energy transition.

Our team serves ENGIE Group entities worldwide and conducts economic and strategic studies to help them better understand and address their strategic and operational challenges. These studies cover a wide range of topics related to energy transition and decarbonization, including:

  • Energy market fundamentals
  • Future energy trend analyses (green gases, CCUS, biomass, decentralized generation)
  • Business models for renewable gases (biomethane, hydrogen)
  • Energy demand projections
  • Climate ambition setting for the Group

These studies rely on a broad range of expertise, including economic modeling, scenario analysis, operational optimization, data analysis, and statistics.

Your Responsibilities

Reporting to the New Gases Team, you will contribute to strategic studies and market analyses related to the role of new gases in the energy transition, with a particular focus on the biomethane market.

Market Analysis & Forecasting

  • Conduct in-depth analyses of biomass, biomethane, and renewable gas markets.
  • Develop and maintain production and consumption outlook scenarios.
  • Monitor and analyze European and national regulatory developments impacting renewable gas industries.
  • Assess the impact of support mechanisms, blending obligations, certification schemes, and public policies.

Modeling & Tool Development

  • Contribute to the enhancement of analytical models and tools (Python, Excel).
  • Automate the processing of input data and model outputs.

Project Management

  • Lead cross-functional studies involving multiple stakeholders across ENGIE entities.
  • Supervise analysts contributing to project deliverables.
  • Ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery of outputs.
  • Present findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

Education & Experience

  • Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent, preferably in Energy Engineering and/or Applied Mathematics (particularly optimization).
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the energy sector.
  • Proven project management experience.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of biomass, biomethane, and renewable gases.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and on diverse projects.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to synthesize complex concepts and work effectively on quantitative topics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with programming and modeling environments such as Python, GAMS, or equivalent.
  • Fluent in both English and French.

Personal Attributes

  • Fluency in French and professional proficiency in English are essential.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and interest in energy transition challenges.
  • Ability to combine strategic thinking with quantitative analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and stakeholder management capabilities.
