Senior Director, Market Access Pricing & Contracting

NewAmsterdam Pharma is an innovative biotech company with the experience and expertise to deliver across its ambitious clinical, regulatory, and commercial goals. Our robust scientific approach focuses on advancing a new era of life-saving treatments for lipid-related diseases. Our vision is that people at risk for heart disease can take control of their health and live longer, fuller lives. Our team is led by a world-class team of industry veterans and key opinion leaders, including some of the world’s preeminent cardiometabolic experts and we foster a passionate, supportive culture that is backed by a high level of integrity and inclusivity.

The Senior Director, Market Access Pricing & Contracting will report to the VP, Pricing, Trade & Value Communications to lead the development and execution of NewAmsterdam Pharma's U.S. pricing, contracting, and gross-to-net (GTN) strategy in preparation for and following the company's first commercial launch, pending regulatory approval. This individual will serve as the organization's subject matter expert on pricing and payer contracting, driving key decisions that optimize patient access, market competitiveness, and long-term revenue performance.

As a strategic leader and hands-on builder, the Senior Director will partner across Market Access, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Commercial, Medical Affairs, and executive leaders to establish pricing governance, evaluate market access tradeoffs, negotiate payer agreements, oversee rebate operations, and support launch readiness. The successful candidate will balance strategic analysis with execution excellence and thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.  This position is an individual contributor at the time of hire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development of U.S. pricing strategy, including WAC recommendations, launch pricing assessments, lifecycle pricing considerations, and competitive market analyses.
  • Develop and maintain pricing governance processes, including cross-functional pricing committee leadership and executive decision support.
  • Assess pricing implications of evolving market dynamics, policy changes, competitive actions, and payer management trends.
  • Provide strategic pricing recommendations based on market research, payer insights, and financial analysis.
  • Monitor the evolving impacts of IRA, Medicare redesign, inflation penalties, and other healthcare policy developments on pricing strategy.
  • Monitor the evolving impacts of PBM reform including FTC settlements and the Consolidated Appropriations Act on pricing strategy.
  • Design and execute payer contracting strategy across commercial, Medicare, PBM, GPO, integrated delivery network (IDN), and emerging customer segments.
  • Develop channel- and customer-specific access strategies that balance formulary access objectives, net revenue targets, and patient affordability considerations.
  • Partner with Account Management to support customer negotiations and formulate evidence-based contracting recommendations.
  • Evaluate rebate, discount, and value-based agreement opportunities to optimize profitable access.
  • Lead contract strategy discussions with executive leadership and provide recommendations regarding access tradeoffs and investment priorities.
  • Lead GTN strategy development, forecasting assumptions, contracting scenario planning, and financial impact assessments.
  • Partner with Finance to develop GTN forecasts, accrual methodologies, budgeting assumptions, and launch planning models.
  • Oversee rebate administration strategy and external vendor management.
  • Monitor contract performance, rebate effectiveness, and market access ROI to ensure achievement of business objectives.
  • Develop reporting and dashboards to support pricing, contracting, and GTN decision-making.
  • Lead pricing and contracting launch readiness activities to support successful commercialization.
  • Build scalable processes, governance models, SOPs, and operating procedures for contracting and pricing management.
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Trade & Distribution, Patient Support Services, Value Communications, Medical Affairs, and Commercial Operations to ensure alignment across access-related functions.
  • Support development of payer engagement strategies, AMCP dossiers, value communications, health economic evidence needs, and account-specific value propositions.
  • Serve as the internal expert on market access economics, pricing strategy, and payer purchasing behavior.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 12+ years of progressive pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience in market access, pricing, contracting, managed markets, finance, or related commercial functions.
  • Demonstrated experience developing U.S. pricing strategies and market access contracting programs.
  • Deep understanding of commercial and Medicare payer dynamics, PBMs, rebates, formulary management, and access pathways.
  • Significant experience with GTN, pricing analytics, revenue management, and contracting economics.
  • Experience supporting or leading product launch readiness activities.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex contracting scenarios.
  • Ability to lead pricing and contracting decisions, synthesize complex tradeoffs, and make clear recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across Market Access, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Commercial, Medical Affairs, and external partners.
  • Knowledge of government pricing, Medicaid, 340B, and federal contracting considerations.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate complex pricing, access, and financial concepts clearly to senior leaders and cross-functional audiences.
  • High degree of accountability, sound business judgment, and an entrepreneurial, scrappy, and resourceful mindset, with the ability to build scalable capabilities and operate independently in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
  • Proven ability to establish new capabilities, governance processes, and operating models in an emerging or first-launch commercial organization.
  • Agile, collaborative leader with the ability to adapt quickly to evolving business priorities, partner effectively across functions, and drive alignment in a fast-paced launch environment.
  • NAP operates under an on-demand workplace philosophy. This role is predominantly remote; however, in-person attendance at the Philadelphia-area office is required based on business needs, collaboration requirements, and key organizational initiatives rather than a predetermined office schedule. The frequency of onsite participation is expected to increase during commercial launch planning and launch-related activities. Candidates located within commuting distance of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, are strongly preferred.
