Job description

Closing Date for Application:

Friday 30/10/2026

Polypipe, part of the Genuit Group, designs and manufactures products for the domestic, commercial, and industrial construction sectors.

Our exceptional teams apply their first-class technical, customer service and manufacturing expertise to understand our customers’ needs and solve tomorrow’s water, climate, and ventilation challenges. Our loyal and highly skilled workforce are key to our success of delivering sustainable climate and water management solutions, everywhere.

Role Overview

As our Business Development Manager, you’ll play a key role in growing our business across regions of the Republic of Ireland, strengthening relationships with established customers while actively identifying opportunities to win new business.

You’ll manage and develop a portfolio of merchant partners and contractors, using your understanding of the construction sector to uncover opportunities, expand the Genuit Group product offering and build a strong pipeline of future projects.

It’s a role that offers plenty of autonomy and combines strategic account development with hands-on relationship building, giving you the opportunity to make a genuine impact on our growth within the Republic of Ireland.

Who Could This Opportunity Suit?

This could be a great opportunity if you already have experience within plumbing, drainage or related construction product sectors and are looking for a role where you can put your product knowledge and customer relationships to use in a field-based sales position.

We’d also be keen to hear from people currently working in internal sales within builders’ merchants who understand the construction market, enjoy developing customer relationships and are ready to take the next step into external sales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of key customer relationships, building long-term partnerships and proactively reviewing sales performance and purchasing trends.
  • Drive profitable sales growth by understanding customer needs and recommending appropriate product and technical solutions.
  • Maintain a strong awareness of market conditions, competitor activity and opportunities across your region.
  • Develop sales of the wider Genuit Group product portfolio through merchant and contractor customers.
  • Build and actively manage a prospect pipeline, targeting new accounts and opportunities to increase market share.
  • Partner with key merchants on regular branch and account reviews, identifying opportunities to enhance ranges and increase sales.
  • Develop a strong pipeline of project opportunities through relationships with contractors, specifiers and M&E consultants.
  • Review and interpret customer and sales data through Excel, QlikView and other systems to support effective commercial decision-making.
  • Partner with marketing teams to support targeted campaigns, promotions, trade activity and sales initiatives.
  • Act as an ambassador for Genuit Group at customer meetings, training sessions, industry events and trade shows.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in construction-related sales, ideally within a solution-led environment.
  • Strong knowledge and commercial awareness of the wider construction market.
  • Confident communicating technical products, solutions and commercial propositions to a range of audiences.
  • Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build credibility at different levels.
  • A proactive, customer-led approach and the ability to handle customer queries or concerns professionally.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of a territory, balancing existing accounts with new business opportunities.
  • Competent across Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland.
  • Full clean driving licence.

Here at the Genuit Group we recognise and develop the contribution our people make to the Group’s success and are committed to attracting talent from the widest pool. We have a role to play in making the built environment more sustainable, building a low carbon business ourselves as well as delivering sustainable solutions at scale.
