The Role

ATI Advisory is seeking a high-performing Data and Policy Analyst to join our Data Strategy team. The team serves clients across payers, providers, states, investment firms, and philanthropies, spanning Medicare and Medicaid. In this role, you will design Medicare or Medicaid data analyses and translate complex results into understandable and actionable findings. You will balance multiple projects at once, such as a fast-paced market analysis and a long-term, detail-oriented research study.

What You’ll Do

Design and Run Analyses

  • Conduct and help design advanced analyses (descriptive, evaluative, and financial) using Medicare and Medicaid administrative data, research files, and public data files.
  • Draft analysis plans for programmers to implement.
  • Perform quality-control reviews of R and SAS programming for data analyses, including statistical analyses of complex survey data or analyses of large claims data files.
  • Create financial models in Excel or R related to healthcare, policy, and business outcomes.

Translate Findings into Insight

  • Create informative data visualizations and develop and tell clear stories that emerge from analysis.
  • Communicate analysis findings and data considerations to project teams, clients, and other external audiences through publications and presentations.
  • Translate data results into policy considerations and deliver data-backed recommendations to clients or colleagues.

Partner Across Teams

  • Collaborate with teams across multiple projects and practices to plan and implement data analysis to inform clients' policy and business decisions.
  • Help identify solutions for teams and clients across practices by contributing to discussions of policy analysis and data sources, methods, and analytic outputs.
  • Plan and lead tasks within analytic-focused client projects, presenting plans and results to clients and internal teams.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience analyzing and helping to design analyses of complex Medicare or Medicaid datasets (claims, encounters, public use files, surveys) in healthcare policy or economics.
  • Professional experience and advanced proficiency in R and Excel analysis.
  • Experience writing and visualizing research results, and the ability to translate complex ideas and findings into relevant insights for an intended audience, visually, verbally, and in writing.
  • A graduate degree in economics, public policy, public health, epidemiology, statistics, mathematics, or another related field, or an undergraduate degree with equivalent work experience.
  • Experience and ability to prioritize multiple high-priority, complex tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail, including the ability to work efficiently to produce accurate, high-quality deliverables.
  • High level of initiative, quick learning ability, and resourcefulness, with the ability to solve problems independently, pivot quickly based on client needs, and work with incomplete information.
  • Ability to support teams' project work while raising risks, questions, and options to appropriate team members.
  • Experience independently executing and presenting data analyses in a consulting environment or similar setting.

Preferred Experience

  • Proficiency with SAS programming or code review.
  • Experience with Python programming or code review.
  • Experience with data visualization in Tableau.
  • Experience with Git or GitHub.
