Job description

Overview:

You must be an actively credentialed, U.S. based Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA to be eligible for this position.

JDA TSG is hiring Enrolled Agents and CPAs to join us as Seasonal Tax Professionals to support small business clients for the upcoming tax season. If you have 3+ seasons of professional business tax preparation experience, enjoy helping customers navigate their tax needs, and are looking for a seasonal, work‑from‑home opportunity, we encourage you to apply!

Why This Role Matters

Our customers are small business owners trusting a professional with one of the most stressful financial moments of their year. As their dedicated tax expert, you own each return end to end: preparation, customer communication, review, and filing. Your expertise and clear communication turn tax season into an empowering experience for the people we serve.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted EA or CPA credential, maintained throughout the season. You will sign and e-file returns as the preparer of record.
  • Must have an active 2027 PTIN by start date.
  • Must live and be legally authorized to work within the US without sponsorship.
   What You Will Do:
  • Prepare federal and state individual and business tax returns (1040 including Schedules C, E, and F; 1065; 1120S; 1120) in CCH.

  • Own each assigned return end to end: intake and questionnaire review, preparation, self-review, finalization, e-signature, and e-filing.

  • Communicate directly with customers through written messaging and outbound calls, including document requests, consultations, and delivering the completed return. Written communication is customer-facing, so grammar and spelling are evaluated.

  • Deliver unfavorable news professionally and clearly, such as a balance due, a missed deduction expectation, or additional documentation requirements.

  • Research questions using internal knowledge resources, IRS guidance, and firm tools.

  • Manage administrative responsibilities such as training, timekeeping, and special projects within provided time.

  • Complete returns in an average of 5.5 hours from beginning to end, using AI-assisted tools for review support.

  • Consistently meet clear performance, quality, and customer experience expectations.

       Who You Are:
  • An active, unrestricted U.S.-based Enrolled Agent (EA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and an active 2027 PTIN. You will sign and e-file returns as the preparer of record.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience preparing and filing small business tax returns to include pass-through entity returns (1065 and 1120) using professional tax preparation software in a professional or retail environment.
  • Proficiency in CCH Axcess is required.
  • Working knowledge of Google Sheets and Excel is required.
  • You can read and work from a P&L and Balance Sheet and reconcile customer-provided financials into an accurate return – required.
  • You have working knowledge of Gemini or other AI tools and are comfortable using them in your daily workflow.
  • You have experience working in Salesforce or a similar CRM.
  • You have strong time management skills and can hold production pace across multiple concurrent returns without sacrificing accuracy.
  • You have excellent people skills and maintain high customer service standards under pressure, including when the news is not what the customer hoped to hear.
  • You take ownership: you research answers, adapt quickly, and stay organized across multiple systems.
  • Equipped with a designated, distraction-free workspace, personal computer for administrative tasks, and a hard-wired Ethernet connection (satellite or Wi-Fi connections are not permitted).

Additional Experience Preferred

  • Have your CAF and willingness to sign POA as needed
  • Experience with submitting 1023 Application for Recognition of Exemption Under 501(c)(3)
  • Experience with filing 990 series
