What You'll Do

IronArch Technology is seeking a Biomedical Engineering (BME) Analyst to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program. You will join a small analyst team that works with local Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) sites to confirm exactly which medical devices, systems, and interfaces will be connected to the new electronic health record at each go-live.
The team's work sits upstream of the Authorization to Connect (ATC) process. Before a device or interface can be approved to connect, BME has to verify what is actually being deployed at the site: whether a server was swapped, whether software was upgraded, whether an interface was de-scoped. You will build and maintain that picture of record by compiling asset inventory data, cross-checking it across multiple sources, and making sure the authoritative systems are updated before authorization paperwork begins.
This is a detail-heavy, high-volume role. Much of the day is data tracking, data analysis, and quality assurance across sources, with the rest spent on interface and site calls gathering and confirming information. The team divides work by area, so you will own a defined set of interfaces and see them through pre-deployment.
Work Location: Remote (U.S.-based). Candidates who live within 35 miles of a designated VA program office will be required to work on-site two days per week; candidates outside that radius work fully remote.

Responsibilities

Asset Inventory & Data Analysis

  • Compile and maintain asset inventory information for the medical devices, systems, and capabilities being deployed at each EHRM go-live site.
  • Cross-check asset and interface data across multiple sources, including a Power Apps application used by program teams, the HTM-owned clinical system tracker, and national device and system records.
  • Understand assets across pre-production and production environments, including network details such as IP addresses.
  • Identify discrepancies between sources, trace them to the correct answer, and see that the right records are updated.

Documentation Review & Quality Assurance

  • Review Enterprise Risk Analysis (ERA) documentation for each interface.
  • Review Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM) documentation for accuracy and consistency with what is being deployed.
  • Perform QA across data sources and documentation so that information handed to the authorization team is complete and correct.
  • Confirm that required updates are made in authoritative records before an ATC package moves forward.

Interface Tracking & Pre-Deployment Support

  • Own a defined list of interfaces within an assigned area and track each one through pre-deployment activity.
  • Attend interface kickoff, scheduling, and working calls as they are stood up for your interfaces.
  • Track scope changes such as de-scoped interfaces, replaced hardware, or software versions that did not change, and confirm them with the site.
  • Hand off verified deployment information to the team responsible for processing ATCs through the Defense Health Agency (DHA).

Site & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Work directly with local HTM sites and site staff to ask clarifying questions and confirm what is being deployed.
  • Take in information from site calls, HTM, and cross-site working groups and turn it into accurate, current tracking data.
  • Keep team leads informed of risks, blockers, and changes that affect go-live readiness.
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis, asset or configuration management, IT inventory, or a comparable detail-intensive analyst role.
  • Strong attention to detail and a track record of reconciling data across multiple, sometimes conflicting sources.
  • Comfort working through large volumes of structured data and documentation with consistent accuracy.
  • Ability to follow established processes reliably and consistently, including processes that are manual or multi-step.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including asking direct, specific questions of site staff and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage a large number of parallel threads (interfaces, calls, follow-ups) without losing track.

Technical Skills

  • Microsoft Excel (advanced: filtering, lookups, pivot tables, data validation)
  • Microsoft Power Apps, SharePoint, or similar business data applications
  • Microsoft Teams and Outlook for high-volume meeting and communication workflows
  • Basic networking concepts: IP addressing, ports, protocols, and environments (pre-production vs. production)
  • Familiarity with medical device, clinical system, or health IT asset data (preferred)

AI Capabilities

  • Comfortable using AI assistants such as Microsoft Copilot as a working tool to research unfamiliar terms, check understanding, and draft or organize information.
  • Understands that AI output needs human review, and applies judgment rather than relying on it as a replacement for verification.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Defense Health Agency, or other Federal health agencies.
  • Experience with the VA EHRM program or a large-scale EHR deployment.
  • Experience with Healthcare Technology Management (HTM), clinical engineering, or biomedical engineering operations.
  • Familiarity with medical device security, Enterprise Risk Analysis (ERA), or Authorization to Connect (ATC) processes.
  • Familiarity with Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM) documentation.
  • Experience with interface tracking or integration coordination in a clinical or enterprise IT environment.
  • Experience working in a complex multi-vendor Federal program.

Clearance Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination.
  • Candidates with active VA PIV credentials or an active Public Trust are strongly preferred to support accelerated onboarding.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a dependable, detail-driven analyst who takes pride in getting the data right. You are comfortable following an established process even when it is cumbersome, and you do it consistently. You pick things up quickly and retain them: once you have been shown how a task works, you own it.
You have initiative. When you hit something you do not understand, your first move is to work it out yourself, using documentation, the tools available to you, or an AI assistant, before going back to your lead. When you do escalate, you arrive with a specific question. You stay calm and organized in a demanding program where everyone is busy, and you are a steady, easy teammate to work alongside.

Impact / Success

In your first year, you will have made a meaningful impact when:

  • You independently own the interfaces in your assigned area and track them through pre-deployment without gaps.
  • Asset inventory and interface data for your sites is accurate, current, and consistent across every source the program relies on.
  • Discrepancies are caught and resolved before they reach the authorization team, and ATC packages for your area move forward without rework.
  • Site HTM staff know you as a reliable, responsive point of contact.
  • Your leads can hand you new work with confidence that it will be done right.

Core Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM EST
Work Location: Remote (U.S.), with two days per week on-site for candidates within 35 miles of a designated VA program office
