Software Engineer- Portugal
(This is a remote role)

About Us
Reachdesk is the first truly end-to-end global SaaS gifting and swag platform, helping B2B companies create meaningful connections with prospects, customers, and employees while driving measurable ROI.

We believe gifting is more than just a transaction: it’s about building genuine human connections that fuel business growth. Whether its engaging prospects, celebrating customers, or recognizing employees, our platform makes it easy to deliver personalized gifts, branded swag, and unforgettable event & brand experiences at scale through automated sourcing, storage, and global delivery.

Trusted by many of the most recognized names in technology and SaaS, Reachdesk integrates effortlessly with marketing, sales, and HRIS tech stacks and is powered by our world-class team across New York, London, and Lisbon.

We’re growing, and we’re currently looking for a Software Engineer to join us.

About the Role
As a Software Engineer at Reachdesk, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and maintenance of our platform. You will be responsible for building robust, scalable, and high-performance solutions that power our customers' gifting strategies. You will collaborate closely with other software engineers, product managers, designers, and other business stakeholders, autonomously and as an individual contributor, to deliver the best gifting platform in the world in a scalable and efficient way.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Development: Design, develop, and maintain features across our whole platform, from backend systems and integrations to responsive, user-friendly web interfaces. Our stack includes Ruby on Rails, Python, SQL, React, and modern JavaScript.
  • API and MCP Development: Build, enhance, and maintain our public and internal APIs and their documentation, and our MCP server, adapting to the evolving needs of our customers and internal teams.
  • AI-Assisted Engineering: Use AI development tools as a core part of your daily workflow - for coding, refactoring, testing, debugging, and documentation - while applying sound judgement to review, validate, and own everything you ship.
  • Technical Ownership: Participate in technical decision-making and contribute to upholding high-quality engineering standards across the team, including code reviews, testing, performance, and accessibility.
  • DevOps Practices: Advocate for and implement DevOps best practices, such as monitoring, logging, and incident response, to ensure system reliability and performance. Our current tools include Sentry, DataDog, New Relic, and Sidekiq.

About You

  • The successful candidate will have:
  • Solid Software Engineering Experience: 3+ years of experience in software development within a product-focused company, demonstrating a solid grasp of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Versatility Across the Stack: Comfortable contributing to both backend and frontend work. You don't need to be an expert in everything, but you're happy to move across layers and learn whatever the problem requires.
  • Backend Skills: Experience with Ruby on Rails, relational databases, and SQL, including the ability to write and optimize queries and troubleshoot database issues effectively.
  • Frontend Skills: Experience building and maintaining web interfaces with React and modern JavaScript, integrating with RESTful APIs, handling asynchronous requests, and managing data flow.
  • API Development Skills: Experience designing, building, and maintaining RESTful APIs, including writing clear, user-friendly documentation.
  • Hands-On Experience with AI Development Tools: You regularly use AI coding assistants or agents in your day-to-day work and understand how to get the best out of them - writing effective prompts and context, breaking down problems, and critically reviewing generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability.
  • Testing and DevOps Practices: Practical experience with automated testing (e.g. RSpec, Jest, React Testing Library), CI/CD workflows, and deployment processes. Familiarity with monitoring and performance tools such as Sentry, DataDog, New Relic, and Sidekiq.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated skill in diagnosing and resolving complex issues in production and test environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • E-commerce or B2B SaaS experience: has worked on products with orders, payments, catalogues, fulfilment or logistics, ideally in a multi-country setting.
  • Third-party integrations: has built and maintained integrations with external APIs and vendors, such as CRMs (Salesforce, HubSpot), suppliers or marketplaces, including webhooks, retries and data syncing.

The Benefits

  • Competitive salary with generous stock options
  • Private medical insurance options, including dental, optical and mental health support, with fast access to care
  • Flexible PTO that increases the longer you’re with us, plus extra flexibility for life’s unexpected moments
  • A genuinely collaborative culture with innovative, fun, and ambitious people

Compensation is based on standardised salary ranges by role, level, and location, benchmarked against similar-sized companies. Final offers are determined by a combination of experience, skills, and role fit, and may vary from the listed range.
