About the Role


The Patient Services Specialist plays a key role in supporting patients, healthcare providers, and payers by coordinating administrative and reimbursement-related activities for Patient Support Programs. In this role, you will work directly with patients, physician offices, private insurers, and provincial drug plans to help facilitate access to prescribed therapies.


Your focus will be on ensuring complete and accurate documentation, expediting reimbursement decisions where possible, and delivering a positive, professional patient experience. This position is ideal for candidates who enjoy patient-facing administrative work, problem-solving, and collaborating with multiple healthcare stakeholders.


This is a full-time, fully remote position for candidates residing in Western Canada (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba). Shifts are scheduled within program operating hours of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST.


What You'll Do

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for patients, insurers, and physician offices regarding reimbursement and patient support documentation.
  • Collect, review, and submit reimbursement forms to private and provincial drug plans.
  • Follow up with insurers and agencies to obtain coverage decisions and provide timely status updates.
  • Maintain accurate case notes, documentation, and patient records within program databases.
  • Escalate complex cases or issues outside program scope in accordance with established procedures.
  • Provide reimbursement status updates and program information to healthcare professionals.
  • Support patient follow-up activities on behalf of physician offices to promote continuity of therapy.
  • Respond to inbound inquiries and conduct outbound outreach via phone, email, and fax.
  • Accurately document and report Adverse Events in accordance with program and regulatory requirements.
  • Meet established service levels, quality standards, and performance metrics.
  • Participate in process improvement, quality initiatives, and ongoing training activities.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in patient services, healthcare administration, reimbursement support, customer service, or a call center environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Experience interacting directly with patients, customers, or healthcare professionals.
  • Strong administrative, documentation, and data-entry skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while adhering to deadlines and service standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in Patient Support Programs (PSPs), reimbursement support, specialty pharmacy, or healthcare navigation services.
  • Knowledge of Canadian private and public drug reimbursement processes.
  • Previous experience within the healthcare, insurance, pharmaceutical, or biotech industries.
  • Experience working in a remote, virtual, or phone-based environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and case management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive patient situations with professionalism and empathy.

Work Location, Travel & Physical Requirements

  • Candidates must reside in Western Canada (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Role requires extended periods of computer use, phone-based communication, and data entry.
