Returning Seasonal Staff- Assistant Trip Leader or Trip Leader

Details

PPM exists to build up, encourage, and assist the local Church in reaching their communities for Christ. As Seasonal Staff, you will facilitate both the logistical and relational aspects of short-term mission trips while staying on-site and participating in ministry alongside host teams.

Seasonal positions are part-time, temporary assignments (ending upon completion of your final trip). Domestic placements only; international locations are led by local in-country staff. We place high value on staffing locally whenever possible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Oversight: Lead teams through logistical, relational, and spiritual aspects of their trip. Build and maintain positive relationships with local PPM church partners and ministries.
  • Ministry Operations: Oversee and direct service projects, relational outreach, and management of daily schedules. Ensure groups have clear direction and supplies needed while participating alongside them in the ministry each day.
  • Debrief & Devotions: Assist in leading evening devotions and Gospel-centered debriefs.
  • Meal Prep: Work with other staff to prepare breakfast and dinner for the team each day. Help set out items for people to prepare their own sack lunches. If meal prep is not required, be of support to the local cooks as needed with dishes, etc.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory, ensuring everything needed is ready for each meal or ministry site, and assist the trip leader with supply runs during the week.
  • Facility Care: Care and cleaning of the lodging facilities to ensure PPM groups leave places better than they found them, in addition to prep before team arrival and clean up after team departure.
  • Driving: In some locations, staff 21 and older will drive teams and staff from site to site in rental vehicles (including 15+ passenger vans), ensuring safe transport for all.
  • Expenses: Trip Leaders will be responsible for managing each trip budget and tracking expenses during the trip, in addition to completing the trip’s expense report. Assistant Leaders may be responsible for turning in receipts for reimbursement.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Faith & Alignment: You are a devoted Christ-follower who is actively engaged in your local church. You are in alignment with PPM’s Statement of Faith (a core requirement for all staff): It is as follows:
    • The Bible is God’s complete and perfect Word and our ultimate authority as followers of Christ. (2 Timothy 3)
    • We are all lost, fallen short of the glory of God, and in need of a Savior. (Romans 3)
    • Jesus came to earth for the purpose of seeking and saving the lost. (Luke 19:10)
    • Jesus died on the cross. Three days later, He rose from the grave, paying the ultimate sacrifice and conquering death for all who believe in Him. (1 Peter 3:18, 1 John 2:2, Romans 5:8, Romans 10:9)
    • As a result of God’s grace alone, through faith in Christ alone, we are saved. (Ephesians 2, John 14)
    • Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit are One. (John 1)
    • Jesus Himself commissioned His followers (the Church) to go into the world and make disciples. (Matthew 28)
  • Age & Availability: 18+: You must be 18+ at the time of service and available for at least 2-4 consecutive weeks during peak seasons (Spring and/or Summer).
  • Leadership Experience: You have proven leadership experience, preferably in a missions or ministry setting.
  • Mandatory Training: You can attend PPM’s Training Conference in North Carolina April 23-25, 2027. You must also commit to completing online training modules as assigned.
  • Character: Those who know you consider you humble, dependable, and see no task as too big or too small. You’re excited to work with people from diverse cultural, geographical, and denominational backgrounds each week, knowing you’re good at uniting people and able to focus on common ground rather than differences. You are a problem-solver who is adaptable, not easily thrown off by changes to schedules or environments. You get excited about close community living, are willing to forgo typical comforts, and work non-traditional hours to support the mission. Above all, you approach everything through a lens of servant leadership.

Benefits

  • Receive compensation, paid semi-monthly, for applicable weeks of service. Some weeks may be considered volunteer work, in which we would inform you prior to your accepting that assignment.
    • Assistant Trip Leaders (Returning Staff)- $400/week
    • Trip Leaders- $600/week
  • Airfare, lodging, and meals are covered by PPM for applicable weeks of service and the spring training conference (if required to attend). Mileage reimbursement may be available for placements that are within driving distance (must be approved by manager).
