Global Commodity Manager — PCB
Position Summary
NEOTech is seeking a highly driven and strategic Global Commodity Manager – PCB to lead global sourcing, supplier strategy, cost management, and supply-chain development for bare printed circuit boards (PCBs) supporting NEOTech’s Build-to-Print (BTP) business across multiple sites.
This role will be responsible for developing and executing a global PCB commodity strategy focused on cost reduction, supplier competitiveness, dual sourcing, risk mitigation, capacity, quality, lead-time improvement, and continuity of supply.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in PCB sourcing and manufacturing, including knowledge of PCB materials, fabrication processes, stack-ups, technology requirements, costing, and supplier capabilities. The individual must be comfortable working with suppliers, Engineering, Quality, Operations, Program Management, and executive leadership.
The role will support PCB requirements from prototype and NPI through high-volume production, ensuring suppliers consistently meet NEOTech expectations for cost, quality, delivery, technology, and service.
Key Responsibilities
PCB Commodity & Supplier Strategy
- Develop and execute a global PCB commodity strategy aligned with NEOTech’s operational and financial objectives.
- Manage and strategically develop a global PCB supplier base across North America, Asia-Pacific, and other key regions.
- Drive dual sourcing, supplier diversification, risk mitigation, and supply continuity initiatives.
- Identify, evaluate, qualify, and develop PCB suppliers capable of supporting complex BTP requirements.
- Develop strategic supplier partnerships focused on cost, capacity, technology, quality, lead time, and service.
- Establish appropriate sourcing strategies for prototypes, quick-turn requirements, production, and high-complexity PCBs.
Strategic Sourcing & Cost Management
- Lead PCB RFI, RFQ, RFP, and competitive bidding activities.
- Analyze PCB quotations, including material, fabrication processes, technology, tooling, NRE, freight, and other cost drivers.
- Develop should-cost models and perform supplier benchmarking and total-cost-of-ownership analysis.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, rebates, tooling, NRE, lead times, MOQ, capacity commitments, and commercial agreements.
- Drive annual PCB cost-reduction and productivity initiatives.
- Analyze PCB market conditions, raw material trends, capacity constraints, tariffs, geopolitical risks, and supply-chain disruptions.
- Develop and execute mitigation plans for long-lead-time and constrained PCB technologies.
PCB Technical & Manufacturing Expertise
- Serve as the PCB commodity subject matter expert (SME) for Supply Chain and cross-functional teams.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of PCB technologies, including:
- Multilayer rigid PCBs
- HDI and high-density technologies
- Rigid-flex and flex PCBs
- High-frequency/high-speed materials
- Controlled impedance requirements
- Heavy copper and specialized constructions
- Surface finishes and plating technologies
- PCB materials, laminates, prepregs, and copper foil
- Partner with Engineering and suppliers on DFM, stack-up optimization, material selection, manufacturability, and cost optimization.
- Support prototype, NPI, production ramp, and engineering-change activities.
- Work with Quality and Engineering to resolve PCB quality issues and drive supplier corrective actions.
Supplier Performance & Relationship Management
- Own strategic supplier relationships for assigned PCB suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance across quality, delivery, lead time, capacity, cost, responsiveness, and service.
- Conduct supplier business reviews, factory visits, capability assessments, and audits.
- Establish and monitor supplier KPIs and corrective-action plans.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for critical PCB shortages, quality issues, capacity constraints, and delivery risks.
- Develop long-term supplier capacity strategies aligned with NEOTech demand.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Program Management, Finance, and Supply Chain.
- Present sourcing strategies, supplier selections, cost-reduction opportunities, capacity risks, and mitigation plans to leadership.
- Support global standardization of PCB suppliers, specifications, pricing structures, commercial agreements, and payment terms.
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, specification optimization, and cost avoidance.
- Drive alignment across NEOTech sites to leverage global PCB purchasing volume and supplier capabilities.
Travel
- Ability to travel globally based on business needs (up to 50%), including travel to Juárez, Mexico; Asia-Pacific; North America; and supplier locations globally.
- Travel will include supplier visits, business reviews, factory audits, sourcing events, quality escalations, and strategic supplier development activities.
