Position Overview:BLN24 is seeking a Public Relations Specialist to lead strategic communications, media relations, audience engagement, and high-impact communications projects supporting WRNMMC, the NCR, and DHA. The position combines public affairs, writing, project management, media engagement, digital communications, and crisis-response responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities:- Develop and execute public-affairs strategies supporting WRNMMC’s mission, services, and initiatives.
- Write and edit press releases, talking points, newsletters, speeches, briefings, web content, and social media products.
- Respond to media inquiries, coordinate interviews, arrange media visits, and maintain media relationships.
- Develop internal and external messaging for patients, staff, leaders, partners, and the public.
- Monitor media coverage and assess public-affairs and campaign effectiveness.
- Plan press conferences, media briefings, community events, and engagement activities.
- Support crisis communications and time-sensitive issues that may receive national, congressional, or public attention.
- Update internal and external websites and social media channels.
- Participate in WRNMMC, NCR, MTF, and DHA communications meetings.
- Develop communications plans, operations plans, community-relations plans, and measurable outreach activities.
- Coordinate message dissemination with DHA, MTF, federal, military, veteran, healthcare, and community stakeholders.
- Provide strategic counsel to senior leaders.
- Maintain issue logs, trackers, weekly reporting, and editorial ideas.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Project Management, or a related field.
- At least five years of public affairs, public relations, project management, or combined experience.
- Strong written and oral communications skills.
- Experience tailoring information for diverse internal and external audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a high-tempo environment.
- Experience with project-management and digital-communications tools.
- Strong stakeholder, interview, media-relations, and consensus-building skills.
- Healthcare-system or military-communications familiarity is highly desirable.
- Preferred Qualification
- Project Management Professional certification.
