Description

Are you looking to advance your IT career? Let's chat and see if we are a good match!

Opportunity:

VSO is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to support and improve enterprise storage services in a production environment. This role is hands-on and operations-focused: you’ll troubleshoot incidents, fulfill requests, execute maintenance, and keep storage and data protection services healthy, performant, and well-documented. You’ll follow established standards and escalate complex architecture decisions when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Storage & SAN Operations

- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve storage-related incidents impacting performance, capacity, connectivity, and availability.

- Administer and support storage platforms in scope (e.g., NetApp, Pure, Infinidat, Nimble, VMware vSAN).

- Perform routine operational tasks: storage health checks, capacity management, performance trending, and remediation of common alerts.

- Execute approved storage changes such as provisioning, resizing, reclamation, and lifecycle tasks.

Datastore & Provisioning Management

- Fulfill requests for new or expanded storage, including: sizing, LUN/volume creation, mapping/presentation, validation, and documentation.

- Support datastore lifecycle tasks (expand/extend, cleanup, optimization, and standardization).

Backup / Restore & DR Support

- Support backup/restore operations and troubleshooting in coordination with documented procedures (job health, restore execution, replication status, restore testing).

- Assist with DR readiness activities such as restore validation, failover testing steps, and runbook execution as assigned.

Maintenance, Upgrades & Change Execution

- Participate in planned maintenance windows for storage and data protection platforms (firmware/OS upgrades, patches, configuration changes).

- Validate post-change system health and document outcomes.

Vendor Coordination & Hardware Support

- Open and manage vendor support cases: collect logs, perform initial triage, coordinate replacement actions, and document resolution.

- Support hardware lifecycle activities as required.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

- Maintain and improve runbooks/KBs for provisioning, restore procedures, and operational standards.

- Identify recurring issues, propose operational improvements, and implement monitoring or process enhancements where appropriate.

Requirements
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant, professional experience
  • Proficient with: NetApp, Pure, Infinidat, Nimble, VMware vSAN
  • Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. citizenship status.
