Position: African & Afrikaans-Accented English Experts
Type: Contract
Compensation: $15–$20/hour
Location: Remote
Duration: 1–2 weeks
Commitment: 20 hours

Role Responsibilities

• Transcribe recorded English conversations spoken with an African or Afrikaans accent.
• Create accurate timestamps against the audio to ensure precision.
• Apply a consistent transcription convention across a batch of files.
• Flag audio quality issues, unclear speech, and speaker-attribution problems.
• Potentially help produce conversations for subsequent transcription.

Qualifications

Must-Have

• Prior transcription or transcription-QA experience (professional or freelance).
• Able to confidently understand and accurately transcribe the accents you apply for.
• For the Afrikaans group: fluent in Afrikaans.
• Strong attention to detail and consistency across a batch.
• Reliable internet and the ability to work to a short deadline.
• Available to start immediately.

Preferred

• Experience with timestamping, captioning, or subtitling workflows.
• Data annotation or AI-training data experience.
