Senior Java Developer

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer to build and support data-intensive applications and integrations in a large-scale Big Data environment. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who can investigate complex problems, make sound design decisions, and deliver reliable production-ready software with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable Java applications, APIs, and data processing components using Spring and Spring Boot.
• Work with large files and terabyte-scale data across databases, data stores, and integrations.
• Design and optimize database structures, SQL queries, and application performance.
• Develop or support integrations involving Kafka and/or MQTT, REST APIs, JSON, XML, and messaging patterns.
• Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement durable fixes.
• Validate requirements, write automated tests, participate in code reviews, and verify changes before release.
• Work daily with stakeholders and onsite and offshore teams to align technical solutions with shared goals.

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of advanced Java development experience, including multithreading and Java process tuning.
• Strong Spring/Spring Boot experience and a solid foundation in object-oriented design, design patterns, and scalable API development.
• Deep experience with relational database design, SQL, query tuning, and performance optimization.
• Hands-on experience solving data-intensive problems in a Big Data environment.
• Experience with Spring Batch and familiarity with Kafka and/or MQTT.
• Strong analytical thinking, structured troubleshooting, technical ownership, and clear communication.
• A consistent approach to automated testing and production-quality engineering.

Additional technologies: Unix, Hadoop, Spark, Docker, Jenkins, and Python. Python experience is a plus.
