The Opportunity

NewAmsterdam Pharma is preparing for the launch of its first commercial product, obicetrapib, and seeks an experienced compliance leader to serve as Senior Vice President, Head of Compliance. This role be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously enhancing the Company’s compliance program, will lead the day-to-day operation of the Company’s compliance function and will partner closely with senior leadership and business functions to ensure compliance with applicable laws, industry requirements, and Company policies.

A critical priority for this role will be to develop a deep understanding of NewAmsterdam’s business, commercial strategy, and objectives and serve as a strategic partner to the Commercial organization. The successful candidate will engage early in the development of commercial strategies, understand what the business is seeking to accomplish and why, identify and assess relevant compliance risks, and work collaboratively with business leaders to develop compliant approaches to effectively achieving those objectives.

The SVP, Head of Compliance will establish standards and implement practical, risk-based processes designed to identify, detect, prevent, and correct non-compliance. Core responsibilities will include compliance policies and procedures, training, monitoring and auditing, strategic risk management, investigations and corrective actions, transparency reporting, and privacy. The role will report to the Chief Legal Officer and will also provide direct reporting regarding the design, operation, and effectiveness of the compliance program to other senior leadership and the Board of Directors and its committees.

The ideal candidate is a pragmatic, business-minded compliance leader who combines deep healthcare compliance expertise with strong judgment, credibility, independence, and a collaborative approach. This person will view an effective compliance function not simply as a control function, but as a strategic partner that helps the organization understand risk, make informed decisions, and accomplish important business objectives responsibly.

Key Responsibilities

• Compliance Program Leadership: Lead the continued development, implementation, operation, and oversight of the Company’s compliance program, ensuring that it evolves appropriately with the business and supports the Company’s growth and commercialization.
• Commercial Strategy & Partnership: Develop a deep understanding of the Company’s business model, commercial strategy, launch plans, and objectives. Serve as a strategic partner to Commercial leadership, engaging early in the development of strategies and initiatives to identify compliance considerations and help develop practical approaches for achieving business objectives in a compliant and responsible manner, while maintaining the independence and judgment required of the Company’s compliance function.
• Board & Executive Reporting: Periodically report to senior leadership and the Board of Directors or its appropriate committees regarding the design, operation, effectiveness, and key risks of the Company’s compliance program.
• Culture & Business Partnership: Champion a culture in which compliance is integrated into business decision-making and aligned with the Company’s values. Build strong relationships across the organization and serve as a trusted advisor who seeks to understand business objectives and context before providing guidance.
• Policies & Procedures: Develop, implement, and periodically review policies, procedures, standards, and business processes designed to promote compliance with applicable laws, regulations and industry requirements.
• Training & Communications: Develop and oversee effective compliance education and training for new and existing employees, helping colleagues understand the requirements affecting the Company and how to apply them in day-to-day business activities.
• Monitoring & Auditing: Establish and execute risk-based monitoring and auditing plans covering appropriate internal activities and external stakeholders, using findings and trends to strengthen the compliance program.
• Investigations & Corrective Actions: Lead or facilitate investigations of suspected non-compliance; develop appropriate recommendations; partner with relevant functions on corrective and preventive actions; and ensure agreed actions are completed.
• Healthcare Compliance & Transparency: Oversee applicable federal and state transparency reporting and related healthcare compliance requirements and maintain awareness of evolving laws, regulations, enforcement priorities, and industry practices.
• Privacy: Serve as the Company’s Privacy Officer and oversee the Company’s privacy compliance framework and related activities.
• Strategic Risk Management: Identify and assess emerging compliance risks in the context of the Company’s business and commercial objectives. Distinguish meaningful compliance risks from theoretical concerns, communicate risk clearly, and help leadership evaluate alternatives and make informed decisions. Translate complex requirements into practical guidance and creative, compliant solutions that enable the business to move forward.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant legal and/or compliance experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industry, including significant leadership experience in compliance.
• Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and industry requirements affecting pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and their interactions with healthcare professionals, patients, payers, and other healthcare stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and overseeing an effective healthcare compliance program, including policies and procedures, training, monitoring and auditing, investigations, corrective actions, and compliance risk assessment.
• Experience building or scaling compliance capabilities within a small to mid-sized organization is strongly preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, collaboration, communication, and influencing skills, with the executive presence necessary to work effectively with senior leadership and the Board.
• Clear, concise, and persuasive written and verbal communication skills and the ability to translate complex legal and compliance requirements into practical guidance.
• Strong business judgment, intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and the ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload, prioritize effectively, and remain responsive as business needs and risks evolve.
• NAP has adopted an on-demand workplace philosophy. This remote role requires in-person attendance at the NAP office in the Philadelphia area based on business needs and work requirements rather than a set office schedule.

• Develop a deep understanding of NewAmsterdam’s business, commercial model, launch strategy, and objectives and use that understanding to provide relevant, practical compliance guidance.
• Become a trusted strategic partner to Commercial leadership who is engaged early in strategy development and helps the organization determine how to achieve its objectives compliantly, rather than simply identifying reasons an initiative cannot proceed.
• Seek to understand the business objective, commercial context, patient needs, and industry realities before developing compliance solutions.
• Identify meaningful risks, distinguish them from theoretical concerns, communicate them clearly, and help leaders make informed decisions.
• Build scalable compliance processes appropriate for a growing organization preparing for its first commercial launch.
• Establish effective monitoring, training, reporting, and investigation capabilities that identify issues early and support continuous improvement.
• Develop strong relationships across Commercial, Medical Affairs, Finance and other functions while maintaining the independence and judgment required of the Company’s senior compliance leader.
