Senior Applications Developer, Incentive Planning and Finance Operations

About the team

The Incentive Planning & Finance Operations Team manages variable compensation for all business units across Zillow Group. We provide a strategic partnership with our sales leaders by managing compensation and developing plans that are motivating and align with company goals in driving growth. We strive for accuracy, timeliness, and reaching several channels to effectively payout on all variable compensation, while also providing insightful analysis, and reporting to the various groups we support.

About the role

This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented candidate with a consistent track record of building trusted relationships with key business partners to solve complex business requirements. This person will flourish with change, relish solving new problems, and enjoy working in an innovative, fast-paced environment.

• Own Anaplan system architecture for sales incentive compensation, including model design, calculation logic, territory hierarchies, and plan administration across all business units
• Design and maintain Databricks data warehouse architecture, including data modeling, warehouse management, and end-user reporting and analytics infrastructure
• Build and maintain Fivetran pipelines to move data from Anaplan into Databricks for downstream reporting and analytics consumption
• Develop and maintain Python and SQL based data pipelines, including object-oriented design and API integrations, to move data from source systems (Salesforce, Workday, Zuora) into Anaplan
• Own development operations including CI/CD pipeline management and GitLab repository administration
• Maintain data pipelines and integration workflows in compliance with SOX audit controls, ensuring traceability, access governance, and change management standards
• Build and expand the team's AI technical stack, including integrating the codebase with Claude Code and developing end-user performance reporting applications in Databricks

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.In California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $148,600.00 - $237,400.00 annually. This base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations.

In Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia the standard base pay range for this role is $141,200.00 - $225,600.00 annually. The base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations.In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. Employees in this role will not be paid below the salary threshold for exempt employees in the state where they reside.

Who you are

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
• 5+ years of experience as a data engineer or application developer at a mid-to-large sized technology company, preferably in sales operations, finance, or incentive compensation context
• Passionate about learning and applying emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development tools and workflows
• Advanced Python skills required, with demonstrated experience in object-oriented design and API integration development
• Experience with Databricks, including data warehouse design, SQL development, and building end-user reporting applications required
• Experience with Databricks Asset Bundles (DABs) for CI/CD deployment of jobs, pipelines, and workflows required; familiarity with Terraform and YAML-based infrastructure provisioning a plus
• Experience with Fivetran or similar data pipeline/ETL tools for moving data between platforms a plus
• Knowledge and hands-on experience with Anaplan (system architecture preferred), Salesforce, Workday, and Zuora, including API integration and implementation
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively across technical and business stakeholders in a fast-paced sales environment
