Job Description

At Block, the Executive Operations team amplifies the impact of executives and their teams by keeping priorities clear, decisions moving, and information flowing across the organization. We are looking for a highly trusted, strategic Executive Business Partner  that carries responsibility beyond a single executive partnership. 

In this role, you will operate as a strategic partner, helping shape operating rhythms, manage complex priorities, improve workflows, and create leverage across teams. You will combine exceptional administrative execution with strong business judgment, proactive problem-solving, stakeholder influence, and the ability to build scalable systems that improve executive and team effectiveness.

At a principal level, this role architects scalable support models, designs repeatable frameworks used across ExecOps, mentors other members of the function, and leads improvements that strengthen how ExecOps supports leaders across business unit

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and administrative partnership for 1–2 senior executives, balancing day-to-day operational excellence with long-term executive effectiveness.
• Proactively manage complex calendars, travel, expenses, meeting cadence, and executive workflows with strong judgment, discretion, and attention to shifting business priorities.
• Design and maintain executive operating rhythms, including leadership meetings, staff meetings, business reviews, planning cycles, all-hands, offsites, and follow-up mechanisms.
• Drive adoption of AI, automation, and workflow tools to increase executive leverage, reduce manual work, improve information flow, and create scalable practices for the executive and broader team.
• Ensure executives are prepared and effective by synthesizing context, managing information flow, identifying decision points, tracking follow-through, and surfacing risks or gaps.
• Build strong relationships across cross-functional partners, and the Executive Operations team to improve alignment, communication, and execution.
• Anticipate needs, resolve ambiguity, and independently drive solutions in fast-moving, sensitive, or high-stakes situations.
• Identify and improve systems, workflows, and processes that create leverage for executives and their teams, including reporting, goal tracking, meeting hygiene, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
• Own or support high-impact executive programs, team moments, offsites, planning processes, and cross-functional initiatives from planning through execution and follow-up.
• Capture and scale institutional knowledge by creating clear documentation, templates, playbooks, or repeatable practices that improve continuity and decision-making.
• Contribute to the centralized Executive Operations team by sharing best practices, mentoring peers, and helping raise the bar for executive support across Block.
• For Principal-level candidates: architect scalable support models, lead cross-functional process improvements, and coach others on executive partnership, stakeholder management, and strategic operating systems.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years of experience as an Executive Assistant, Executive Business Partner, Administrative Business Partner, Chief of Staff partner, or similar role supporting senior executives; experience in fast-moving technology or product-led companies preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to operate as a trusted strategic partner to senior leaders, with strong judgment, discretion, and ability to manage sensitive information.
• Exceptional calendar, workflow, travel, and executive operations management skills, including the ability to prioritize across competing demands and shifting business needs.
• Strong business acumen and ability to connect day-to-day executive support to broader team, product, and company priorities.
• Proven experience designing or improving operating rhythms, executive workflows, planning processes, meeting systems, documentation, or cross-functional coordination mechanisms.
• Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across functions, levels, and working styles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex context, prepare executive-ready materials, and communicate with clarity and sound judgment.
• High emotional intelligence, composure, and ability to navigate ambiguity, organizational dynamics, and high-pressure situations.
• Advanced proficiency with Google Workspace, including Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and related collaboration tools.
• Comfort using data, AI, automation, or workflow tools to improve executive effectiveness, reduce manual work, and scale repeatable processes.
•  As a principal level candidate, demonstrated experience mentoring other executive support professionals, creating scalable frameworks, leading function-wide improvements, or influencing support strategy across teams or business units.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting C-Suite 
• Experience supporting executives in hybrid or distributed teams.
• Experience planning leadership offsites, all-hands, business reviews, or annual/quarterly planning processes.
• Experience building templates, playbooks, dashboards, or systems that improve team operations at scale.

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
