Luminate Bank is redefining what modern banking can be. In just five years under its current leadership, the company has grown from a $62 million community bank into a $500 million financial institution, the fastest-growing state-chartered bank, while building one of the fastest-growing mortgage platforms in the country.

The momentum has been extraordinary:

  • Grew bank assets from $62 million to $500 million in five years- the fastest-growing state-chartered bank
  • Ranked a 2026 Top Workplace in Minnesota by the Star Tribune and #1 among large companies in Colorado Top Workplaces 2026
  • Named a 2026 Top Workplaces Culture Excellence winner in eight categories and a Top Workplace nationally in Financial Services
  • Surpassed $4 billion in mortgage originations in 2025
  • Ranked among the Top 30 Mortgage Lenders nationally by Scotsman Guide
  • Maintain a 4.9-star average rating across 45,000+ customer reviews
  • Recognized by Freddie Mac with two 2026 Home Possible RISE Awards® for Greatest Volume and Fastest Growth
  • Honored by the Minnesota Mortgage Association as 2025 Leaders of the Year

But the story is bigger than growth metrics and awards. Luminate Bank is building a culture designed for ambitious, high-performing people who want to shape the future of banking. We move quickly, think boldly, and invest deeply in our people. Innovation, accountability, collaboration, and customer experience are at the center of everything we do.

What began as a rapidly growing lending and banking platform is now entering its next phase: building a nationally recognized financial brand that redefines how modern banking is experienced. For leaders who want the opportunity to build, scale, and leave a lasting impact, this is a rare moment to join a company with startup energy, national momentum, and a long runway ahead.

Position Overview:

The Loan Originator Associate plays a key supporting role within the mortgage lending team by assisting branch Loan Originators in evaluating borrower needs, recommending appropriate loan solutions, preparing complete loan packages, and coordinating with processing teams throughout the loan lifecycle.

This position is ideal for a licensed mortgage professional who possesses strong technical mortgage knowledge, excels at reviewing loan scenarios, interpreting investor and agency guidelines, assessing loan viability, and maintaining well-organized files. While business development is not the primary focus of this role, the Loan Originator Associate may originate loans independently and will have the opportunity to earn additional compensation on loans they personally generate.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable and detail-oriented mortgage professional who enjoys the analytical and operational aspects of loan origination. They are highly skilled at setting up loan files, evaluating borrower qualifications, researching lending guidelines, and determining loan feasibility. Rather than being primarily focused on sales or prospecting, this individual thrives in a support-oriented role that helps Loan Originators and borrowers successfully navigate the mortgage process while still having the opportunity to originate and earn commissions on loans they personally bring to the organization.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist Loan Originators with borrower consultations and loan scenario analysis.

  • Assist in structuring loan scenarios and resolving qualification challenges.
  • Maintain an active working knowledge of mortgage products, underwriting guidelines, compliance requirements, and industry regulations.
  • Coordinate with processing, underwriting, and closing teams to help ensure timely loan closings.
  • Manage multiple loan files while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with borrowers and referral partners as appropriate.
  • Originate mortgage loans on an individual basis when opportunities arise.
  • Attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of residential mortgage lending practices, loan products, and underwriting guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess loan viability and identify appropriate financing solutions.

  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to evaluate financial information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and mortgage origination systems.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Two or more years of mortgage industry experience.
  • Current NMLS Mortgage Loan Originator license, or the ability to obtain and maintain licensure in accordance with the SAFE Act.
  • Experience reviewing loan files, analyzing borrower qualifications, and working with mortgage guidelines preferred.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation reliant on ability and experience
  • Excellent benefits package including health, pre-tax HAS and FSA accounts, dental & vision
  • Life and AD&D Insurance, as well as additional voluntary benefit possibilities
  • 401K with robust company match
  • Flexible PTO program
