Remote – United States. Work from anywhere in the U.S. while collaborating with our experienced intellectual property team and supporting clients across a broad range of technologies.

Note

This opportunity requires 4+ years of patent prosecution experience, an active U.S. state bar license, USPTO registration, and experience prosecuting patents involving electrical, computer, software, controls, or electromechanical technologies.

Our compensation model is commission-based rather than a traditional fixed base salary. Attorneys earn approximately 40% of the amounts they invoice to clients, with expected annual earnings of $150,000 to $200,000+ depending on productivity. The role carries an annual billable requirement of 1,700 hours.

Job Description

• Draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications involving electrical, computer, software, controls, and electromechanical technologies.
• Develop patent prosecution strategies that protect clients' innovations and intellectual property portfolios.
• Prepare patent applications, amendments, responses to Office Actions, and other prosecution documents.
• Communicate with inventors, engineers, and corporate clients to understand complex technologies and translate innovative concepts into effective patent protection.
• Manage patent prosecution matters throughout the application and examination process.
• Support international patent procurement efforts involving Europe, Asia, and other jurisdictions.
• Collaborate with our attorneys and clients to deliver high-quality legal work while meeting client expectations and billable requirements.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• Active registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• 4+ years of patent prosecution experience, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
• Patent prosecution experience involving electrical engineering, computer engineering, software, controls, or electromechanical technologies.
• Strong patent drafting, legal writing, analytical, and technical communication skills.
• Ability to independently manage patent prosecution matters and communicate effectively with inventors and clients.
• A bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, software engineering, or a closely related technical discipline is strongly preferred.
• Willingness to work within a commission-based compensation structure and meet an annual requirement of 1,700 billable hours.
