Are you an experienced Engineer looking for a role where you can take ownership of technical design while continuing to develop your expertise?

We’re looking for an Environmental Design Engineer to join our Environmental Protection Services (EPS) team supporting the design and delivery of innovative environmental infrastructure solutions across the UK.
You’ll work on a varied portfolio of projects, taking designs from feasibility through to detailed delivery, while helping us maintain the highest standards of technical quality and assurance.
You’ll be joining an experienced and supportive team with the opportunity to broaden your knowledge of environmental protection systems and progress your engineering career.
 

More about the role:

• Develop designs for environmental infrastructure projects, including drainage, containment, telemetry and environmental protection systems
• Undertake site visits across the UK to gather technical information, understand existing infrastructure and identify constraints and design requirements
• Produce comprehensive design packages including engineering drawings, layouts, construction details, calculations, specifications, design risk assessments and handover documentation
• Ensure designs are technically robust and compliant with relevant legislation, industry guidance and standards including CDM, DSEAR, WIMES and British and European Standards
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the department to coordinate technical inputs and ensure design deliverables are completed to the required quality, programme and budget
• Support technical reviews and help improve the quality and consistency of our engineering designs.
• Help shape and improve our design standards, templates and processes

Qualifications

About you:

• HNC/HND or Degree in Environmental, Mechanical or a related Engineering discipline with relevant industry experience is essential
• Experience producing engineering designs, drawings and technical documentation with knowledge of relevant standards and legislation
• Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software is desirable
• Strong communication and ability to explain technical information clearly to different audiences
• Organised and able to manage multiple projects, priorities, deadlines and budgets
• A willingness to develop your technical expertise. Experience in environmental protection, drainage, utilities, rail or telemetry would be an advantage, but training will be provided
• Full clean UK driving licence and be comfortable travelling nationwide, including occasional overnight stays
