Drafting Detailer – Remote

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Drafting Detailer to join our team in a remote capacity. This position is responsible for preparing detailed structural and fabrication drawings for metal building systems using Tekla Structures. The Drafting Detailer will work closely with engineering, estimating, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure drawings and models are accurate, complete, and meet project requirements and production standards.

Key Responsibilities: 

· Create and maintain detailed fabrication and erection drawings for metal building systems using Tekla Structures.

· Develop accurate 3D models, shop drawings, assembly drawings, and detail drawings based on project requirements and engineering documentation.

· Review architectural, structural, and engineering drawings to identify dimensions, specifications, connections, and other detailing requirements.

· Ensure drawings and models accurately reflect design requirements, material specifications, and manufacturing standards.

· Coordinate detailing requirements with engineering, manufacturing, project management, and other internal departments.

· Identify discrepancies, design conflicts, and missing information and communicate issues for resolution.

· Make revisions to drawings and models based on engineering changes, customer requirements, and production needs.

· Verify dimensions, material quantities, connections, and other critical details for accuracy.

· Prepare clear and accurate drawings that communicate fabrication and installation requirements.

· Maintain organized project files and documentation throughout the detailing process.

· Follow company drafting standards, procedures, and quality requirements.

· Assist with improving drafting and detailing processes to increase accuracy and production efficiency.

· Communicate effectively with team members while working in a remote environment.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

  Required Qualifications:

· Associate degree, technical degree, or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience preferred.

· Minimum of 5 years of experience in the metal building industry.

· Professional experience using Tekla Structures is required.

· Strong knowledge of metal building systems, structural steel, and fabrication processes.

· Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings.

· Strong understanding of dimensions, tolerances, connections, materials, and fabrication requirements.

· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

· Ability to identify and resolve drafting and detailing issues.

· Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.

· Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote work environment.

· Reliable internet connection and a suitable workspace for remote work.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience detailing pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB).

· Experience with structural steel fabrication or manufacturing.

· Knowledge of primary and secondary framing, roof and wall systems, bracing, and structural connections.

· Experience coordinating with engineering and manufacturing teams.

· Additional experience with CAD or related structural detailing software.
