A Day in the Life

Within the Clinical, Medical, Regulatory & Safety (CMRA) organization, the Technology Enablement team focuses on empowering colleagues with modern digital tools, automation and applied AI.

We are seeking an AI Developer / Data Science Engineer, who is early in their career and motivated to build practical AI solutions that improve productivity across clinical and regulatory operations. This role combines hands-on development with innovation and collaboration, helping teams explore and adopt modern AI capabilities in a responsible and scalable way.

The position operates primarily within MCRS and collaborates broadly across CMRA teams including Clinical Operations, Regulatory Global Support, and other clinical functions. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with a few years of experience, who want to work with enterprise AI technologies, while developing solutions that make a measurable impact on how teams work. It is a remote role, based in Slovakia.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Design and develop AI-driven productivity solutions, using tools such as OpenAI / Azure OpenAI, CustomGPTs, Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power Automate and Power Apps.
  • Build and maintain desktop and hosted AI solutions that improve operational efficiency across teams - continuously improve existing AI solutions to ensure stability, usability and long-term sustainability.
  • Support a small community of citizen developers by providing guidance, troubleshooting and reusable templates and participate in Product Information Chatbot working groups.
  • Contribute to the development of internal standards, templates and governance practices for AI-enabled solutions, while ensuring all developed solutions follow Medtronic standards for data privacy, security and responsible AI use.
  • Assess new technologies to support emerging business process needs and to drive modernization within the regulatory function.
  • Manage a backlog of hyper-automation, AI- supported workflows and technology needs.
  • Track and report out success measures and return on investment (ROI) of AI – Supported workflows and new technology opportunities.

This role initially focuses on implementing and supporting solutions with guidance, while progressively growing into a position that independently develops solutions and mentors citizen developers.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence or a related technical discipline.
  • Approximately 2–3 years of professional experience in software development, data science, automation or AI-related roles.
  • Hands-on experience with modern AI tools, such as OpenAI or Azure OpenAI, CustomGPTs, Microsoft Copilot or similar enterprise AI platforms.
  • Foundational understanding of software development practices and solution lifecycle management.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

Pay range / Rango salarial / Intervalo salarial /Fascia retributiva / Tranche de salaire / Gehaltsband / Salaribereik:  Slovakia: 22,800.00 EUR - 34,200.00 EUR | This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
