If you are an engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an opening for you! Based in our Sidney, OH location, you will implement fast-paced, time-sensitive scroll compressor development projects for Residential Air Conditioning products. This role is for someone with a passion for new product engineering and development, along with teamwork, project management, customer communication, and problem-solving skills. You will support the evaluation, maturation, and development of scroll compression technologies focused on best-in-world efficiency and optimized for a new generation of environmentally friendly refrigerants.
AS A PROJECT ENGINEER, YOU WILL:
Support the development of fixed-speed residential scroll compressors from prototype through product release
Utilize analytical tools and engineering methods to evaluate and improve compressor performance, reliability, and quality
Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and engineering teams to address technical challenges and support product requirements
Assist with DFMEA activities to identify technical risks and support qualification and validation planning
Support project execution by tracking technical deliverables, milestones, and development activities
Coordinate prototyping, testing, and validation efforts while ensuring compliance with engineering, quality, and regulatory standards
Work with cross-functional and global teams to provide technical support, communicate project updates, and assist internal and external customers
SCHEDULE:
This is a first-shift, onsite position with a flexible start time. While this department primarily work onsite, occasional work-from-home days can be available when needed and aligned with business requirements.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Technology or equivalent.
1-5+ years’ experience with new product development through a systematic product release process
Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this position
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Ability and desire to solve technical problems using structured problem-solving methods
Experience with scroll compressor design and development
Strong understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer
Strong understanding of HVAC principles
Works effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Ability to quickly understand and organize information necessary to make engineering decisions
Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Excellent project management and organizational skills
