Job Title: Test Engineer
Location: Hybrid working, with occasional client-site travel as required
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000, plus benefits

The Role As a Test Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software delivered across our programmes. Working within an agile environment, you will develop and maintain robust test automation while collaborating closely with developers, product owners, and business analysts to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and advocate for quality throughout the development lifecycle.
You will be comfortable working with minimal supervision, proactively identifying risks, and mentoring other testers to help build a culture of continuous improvement.

What You'll Be Doing - Develop and maintain test plans, test scripts, and test reports.
- Ensure software meets user requirements and performance expectations.
- Produce, maintain, and evolve comprehensive, robust, and reliable test automation scripts in a CI/CD environment, sourced directly from business requirements.
- Document defects, highlight risk, propose solutions, and monitor issues through to resolution.
- Review requirements, define test conditions, and create manual and automated test scripts using tools such as Playwright.
- Apply understanding of CI/CD approaches and tooling across AWS and Git.
- Analyse situations to determine what's required to ensure UIs and APIs are tested successfully, including non-functional testing.
- Work comfortably with technical and specialist stakeholders, acting as a facilitator to elicit information and escalate where needed.
- Mentor testers and promote best practices in testing and quality assurance.
What We're Looking For (SFIA Level 4) - Testing Experience: Strong background in software testing across the full development lifecycle, with a deep understanding of both manual and automated testing practices.
- Leadership in Quality Assurance: Experience leading testing efforts within an agile team, working closely with senior developers and senior testers on the programme, while contributing to and upholding quality standards.
- Test Planning & Oversight: Ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee testing activities across multiple projects or workstreams, ensuring alignment with delivery timelines and business goals.
- Collaboration & Communication: Proven ability to work closely with developers, product owners, and business analysts to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and advocate for quality.
- Mentoring & Knowledge Sharing: Committed to supporting the development of others by sharing expertise, promoting best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Proactive self-starter, capable of working remotely with minimal instruction or supervision.
