Job description

Full-Stack Developer

Position Type: Full-Time, Remote
Working Hours: U.S. Business Hours

About the Role

We are looking for a Full-Stack Developer with strong experience in TypeScript, React, Next.js, and Postgres to build and ship features across a modern client portal.

You’ll own features from design through production, working across the frontend, backend, database, and integrations as needed. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be expected to think beyond the happy path, build reliable features, and improve the codebase as you go.

You’ll work closely with a small engineering and product team, receiving fast feedback and having significant ownership over what you build.

What You’ll Own

End-to-End Feature Development

  • Take features from design prototype through production
  • Build frontend interfaces using TypeScript, React, and Next.js
  • Handle route handlers, database migrations, emails, and UI as part of a complete feature
  • Work across candidate profiles, roles and candidates pages, interview flows, billing, and other portal features
  • Ensure features are production-ready rather than focused only on the happy path

Data & UI Resilience

  • Build features that handle real-world data and edge cases
  • Account for empty states, error states, long names, lengthy CVs, and multiple applications
  • Ensure UI states are clear, intentional, and user-friendly
  • Identify potential edge cases before they become production issues
  • Improve existing features when you identify reliability or usability gaps

Testing & Code Quality

  • Write automated tests for areas that currently lack coverage
  • Add regression coverage for new features and important workflows
  • Keep the codebase stable and maintainable
  • Identify and resolve issues discovered through testing or code review
  • Leave each area of the codebase better than you found it

Database & Backend

  • Write and review Postgres migrations
  • Work confidently with SQL, joins, and database relationships
  • Read and reason about row-level security policies
  • Maintain predictable Supabase Auth and Realtime behavior
  • Understand how frontend, backend, and database changes work together

Third-Party Integrations

  • Work with integrations such as Stripe, Resend, Workable, and SparkHire
  • Connect third-party services to product features when required
  • Troubleshoot integration-related issues
  • Read and understand the existing Python FastAPI service when features interact with AI or data functionality

Code Review & Collaboration

  • Write clear and well-documented pull requests
  • Provide enough context for reviewers to understand and approve changes efficiently
  • Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback
  • Progress toward reviewing API and database migration pull requests independently
  • Collaborate directly with engineering and product team members in a fast feedback environment

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience shipping production TypeScript and React applications
  • Strong experience with Next.js, ideally including App Router, Server Components, and Route Handlers
  • Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases
  • Ability to write joins, read migrations, and understand database relationships
  • Understanding of Postgres and row-level security concepts
  • Experience building production-ready UIs with thoughtful empty, loading, and error states
  • Experience working in a monorepo or codebase where features span frontend, backend, and database layers
  • Experience writing and maintaining automated tests
  • Familiarity with pull requests and modern code-review workflows
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Ability to own features independently from requirements through deployment
  • Strong written communication and attention to detail

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on experience with Supabase
  • Experience with Stripe or Resend
  • Experience working with Workable or SparkHire integrations
  • Familiarity with Python and FastAPI
  • Experience with unit or integration testing
  • Experience working with AI or data-focused backend services
  • Experience using tools such as CodeRabbit or similar AI-assisted code review tools
  • Previous experience working in a small, fast-moving product team

What Makes You a Strong Fit

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Can take a feature from a brief to production without needing every task broken down
  • Think about migrations, edge cases, testing, and integrations alongside the UI
  • Care about how features behave with real-world data
  • Communicate proactively when you encounter blockers
  • Welcome feedback and use it to improve your work
  • Are comfortable working across both frontend and backend systems
  • Prefer shipping small, reliable improvements consistently
  • Take pride in leaving the codebase cleaner and more stable than you found it

What Success Looks Like

  • Features move efficiently from design to production
  • New functionality works reliably across real-world data scenarios
  • Strong automated test coverage across key areas of the portal
  • Database migrations and security policies remain reliable and well-structured
  • Pull requests are clear, focused, and easy to review
  • Third-party integrations work consistently across product workflows
  • Bugs and edge cases are identified and addressed proactively
  • The codebase becomes more stable and maintainable over time

Typical Day

Your day may start with a design prototype, feature request, or product comment. You’ll work across the stack to turn that requirement into a production-ready feature—writing the database migration, building the UI, implementing the route handler, connecting required integrations, and adding tests.

Other days may involve fixing an edge case that surfaced in production, such as a candidate with multiple applications causing an unexpected issue in a list view. You’ll investigate the problem, implement the fix, test it, and deploy the improvement.

The team operates with a tight feedback loop, so expect short standups, direct collaboration, and most decisions to happen through comments and pull requests rather than lengthy meetings.

Interview Process

  1. Initial Application Review
  2. AI Rating & Recruiter Screening
  3. Technical/Client Interview
  4. Final Selection & Onboarding
