Job description

BestReviews.com, a division of Nexstar Media Group, is the best source for product recommendations on the internet. Our mission is to simplify purchasing decisions, helping the everyday consumer find products that make life better and easier.  We are a small, close-knit team driving the ecommerce efforts for the US's biggest local broadcaster and top comScore news site. Our content is distributed to top sites like The Hill, Chicago Tribune, NewsNation, Nexstar local TV news sites and more.

As the Senior Product Manager, Data at BestReviews, you will leverage our data to create great user experiences and grow our business. Also, you will work on two existing websites that reach millions of consumers every month, as well as our Business Intelligence platform. You will work closely with our small, nimble product team and report to the VP of Product.

In this role you will collaborate closely with your peers and department leaders, clearly communicate timelines and tradeoffs, and approach projects with a team-oriented mindset.

Your primary objectives / responsibilities:

  • Deliver new data and product solutions, while iterating on existing products.
  • Create and maintain the roadmap for our in-house data analytics, automations, and partner integrations.
  • Use AI tools such as LLMs to increase team productivity and analytics capacity.
  • Collaborate with our ecommerce, publisher, and paid traffic partners to create solutions and new features that support company goals.
  • Define priorities and product requirements for two distributed teams: BI (2 developers, based in Asia) and Engineering (7 developers, based in Europe; process and technology for this team are managed by the Senior Director of Technology).
  • Define processes where they do not exist to ensure on-time delivery and clear prioritization.
  • Automate routine tasks and processes to improve efficiency.
  • Partner with cross-functional team members, including fellow Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, Developers, Performance Media team, Content team, and BI Managers. Help drive a culture of excellence while ensuring a positive and collaborative experience for all cross-functional teams you work with.

Qualifications / requirements:

Must-haves:

  • 4+ years of product management experience.
  • Deep understanding of data analytics. Love data (quantitative and qualitative) and aren't shy about digging deep into it to define hypotheses to test out.
  • Demonstrated ability to tie analytics to specific outcomes.
  • Experience working with code and AI tools. You have shipped AI-powered features, have used LLMs to build internal tooling, and/or have evaluated AI vendors.
  • Ability to manage work independently to hit timelines.
  • Experience working with Product and Engineering teams.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience working with international groups and distributed teams. Able to work remotely, communicating primarily via Slack, Zoom, and Teams.
  • High level of attention to detail with excellent organizational/project management skills.
  • Communication skills to clearly describe goals and solutions.
  • Thinking big and acting at scale, while being a highly contributing member of a small, close team.
  • Drive creative solutions that help BestReviews and partners achieve goals.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with Looker and MySQL.
  • Experience with ecommerce, publisher, and paid traffic partners.
  • Some understanding of Python.
