About the Role

Position Title: Regional Director of Ministry Partnerships, East

Office: HQ, Remote, or Hybrid (PREFER APPLICANTS IN FLORIDA OR GEORGIA) 

Department: Major Donors and Foundations

Reports To: Vice President of Ministry Partnerships

Responsibilities

Fundraising

  • Manages the qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding of a portfolio of current major donors ($5,000+ annual giving) and a pipeline of prospective individual major donors in the Eastern half  of the United States, as assigned by the VP of Ministry Partnerships.
  • Researches current and prospective donors using wealth screening and other tools available to  determine giving capacity and inclination.
  • Creates an individual moves management plan for each current and prospective major donor  assigned, mapping out (a) goals for increasing the engagement of assigned donors based on  knowledge and research, (b) cultivation activities, solicitation strategy and timelines, and (c) appropriate  Care Net staff or board members to engage in cultivation and solicitation efforts. Executes the plan.
  • Presents and pursues planned giving opportunities with assigned donors, in collaboration with  Care Net’s Planned Giving experts.
  • Participates in meetings with current and prospective individual donors as a representative of  Care Net to gain an understanding of each donor’s philanthropic interests and capacity, explore  alignment with Care Net’s mission and vision, and invite them to participate in our mission in a way that is  meaningful to them.
  • Prepares plans and proposals for meetings and requests participation of the VP of Ministry  Partnerships, the President/CEO, and/or other staff or board members as needed. Completes Call  Reports and updates to donor records on a timely basis.
  • Collaborates with the Ministry Partnerships Assistant and other team members to ensure all  aspects of the annual Communications Plan for assigned donors are completed on time and with  excellence (i.e. donor receipts, touch emails, annual appeals and tax statements, Christmas cards, prayer  cards, etc).
  • Collaborates with the Foundations Team to visit current and prospective foundation partners in the Regional Director’s assigned territory to help advance foundation relationships and funding  opportunities.
  • Invites current or prospective donors to host a Ministry Briefing to introduce Care Net to their  sphere of influence and work with team members to execute Ministry Briefings.
  • Assists the VP of Development in the creation and implementation of the fundraising strategy for  major donors in order to achieve budgeted contribution growth and help sustain Care Net in the  fulfillment of its mission and vision.

Travel & Other

  • Travels up to 30% of the time (slightly more or less depending on the time of year) to meet with assigned donors and prospective donors, participates in the Care Net National Conference and other  events, trainings, speaking engagements, and other activities.
  • Attends and participates in the leadership of daily staff devotions and regular prayer.
  • Attends and participates in individual and team weekly, bi-weekly, and quarterly meetings.

Fundraising

  • At least 3 years of experience in major gifts fundraising is strongly preferred with proven success  in directly asking for and closing major gifts of $10,000 or more and building and maintaining long-term relationships with fundraising constituents such as individual donors and foundations.
  • Candidates with a strong sales background will also be considered.
  • Successful experience in all aspects of the gift or sales cycle: (1) initiating contact with potential  and current donors; (2) developing appropriate cultivation strategies; (3) moving potential and current donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure; (4) making solicitations; and (5) stewarding relationships with donors.
  • Ability to initiate, analyze, monitor, evaluate, and alter strategic advancement plans and articulate the case for support so that individual donors understand and make an investment in the vision,  mission, and strategic initiatives of Care Net.
  • Knowledge of current trends in charitable giving.

Soft Skills

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Strong organizational, written and oral communication skills, and ability to do public speaking.
  • Ability to be a team member while working independently and delivering measurable, cost-effective results.
  • Professionalism, sensitivity, and personal confidence to represent Care Net internally and to the  public and positively influence, persuade, and motivate others to engage in supporting Care Net’s mission.

Other

  • Proven ability to be highly effective while working remotely…and enjoys working remotely.
  • Has the ability to travel up to 30% of the time, including to donor meetings, Care Net’s National  Conference, and other events as they arise.
  • Understanding of and ability to work with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and use other existing technology to achieve desired results. Experience with a CRM preferred.
  • Computer literate with particular expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google  applications, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google sheets.
