About the Role
Outsource Ability is recruiting on behalf of our client, a UK-based digital marketing agency, for a Website & Graphic Design Assistant. This is a hands-on build and maintenance role covering websites, landing pages and supporting design assets.
You will take responsibility for building and maintaining WordPress websites in Elementor, producing landing pages and social media graphics, and using AI tools to work through projects efficiently. The role is client-facing: you will speak directly with clients by video call and telephone, investigate issues they raise, and see them through to resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Website Build & Maintenance
- Build WordPress websites using Elementor, from initial setup through to launch.
- Build landing pages to support campaigns and client requirements.
- Carry out ongoing website maintenance, including content updates, plugin and theme updates, and routine checks.
- Ensure websites display and function correctly across desktop and mobile devices.
- Investigate website issues, identify the cause and resolve them, escalating where a fix sits outside your scope.
Design & Content
- Create social media posts and supporting graphics in line with brand guidelines.
- Produce and adapt visual assets for use across websites, landing pages and social channels.
- Maintain consistency of branding and visual style across all output.
AI-Assisted Delivery
- Use AI tools to speed up build, content and design work without compromising quality.
- Apply AI tools to troubleshooting, content drafting and repetitive production tasks.
- Review and quality-check all AI-assisted output before it goes live or is sent to a client.
Client Communication
- Communicate with clients by video meeting and telephone to take briefs and provide updates.
- Clarify requirements before starting work, and confirm changes in writing.
- Keep clients informed on progress, timelines and anything that affects delivery.
Systems
- WordPress
- Elementor
- Video conferencing tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet
- AI tools used to streamline efficiency (Claude, ChatGPT or similar)
Experience with every system is not essential, but you must be confident learning new technology.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- High level of practical experience building websites in WordPress.
- High level of practical experience with Elementor.
- Confident, regular use of AI tools in a professional context.
- Graphic design ability, with experience producing social media and web assets.
- Comfortable speaking directly with clients on video calls and by telephone.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve website issues independently.
- Highly organised, able to manage several builds and maintenance jobs at once.
- Clear written and spoken English.
- Able to work independently in a remote environment with limited supervision.
Advantageous
- Customer service experience.
- A portfolio of live WordPress and Elementor builds.
- Experience with landing page and conversion-focused design.
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS for adjustments beyond the page builder.
- Experience with hosting panels, domains and DNS.
Working Arrangements
- Independent contractor engagement, placed and managed by Outsource Ability.
- Part-time or full-time hours, agreed with the successful applicant.
- Hours worked during UK business times.
Remote Work Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be based in South Africa.
- Have a modern laptop or PC with a minimum of 8GB RAM and an SSD, running an up-to-date operating system.
- Have a stable fibre internet connection with a minimum of 50 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload.
- Have a functional UPS, inverter or power station capable of running router and laptop for a minimum of 2–4 hours during load shedding.
- Have a professional, noise-cancelling headset with a clear microphone.
- Have a quiet workspace suitable for calls and video meetings.
- Be available for the agreed hours during UK business times.
