Position Title: Project Manager 

Position Location:  Remote - work virtually from anywhere in the United States

Job Summary 

The Project Manager is accountable for leading and delivering power systems studies projects for mission critical facilities, including hyperscale data centers. This role combines project leadership with technical oversight of studies such as short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and load flow analyses. 

The Project Manager works closely with internal engineering teams, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure studies are executed accurately, on schedule, and within budget, while maintaining alignment with DLB standards and industry best practices. 

The Project Manager will receive limited direction on day-to-day work and general instruction on new projects or assignments.  Will execute and assist project leadership on projects of complex scope.  Will work independently or under limited supervision.  

The Project Manager will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.   

Essential Functions 

Manage all Elements of Routine and Complex Projects (50%) 

  • Lead execution of power systems studies projects from kickoff through final deliverables (reports, TCCs, arc flash labels, settings files)  
  • Coordinate and oversee technical activities including:  
  • Load flow studies  
  • Short circuit analysis  
  • Protection coordination  
  • Arc flash analysis  
  • Equipment evaluation  
  • Transient stability (as applicable)  
  • Coordinate and manage subconsultants supporting power systems studies, including scope definition, performance monitoring, and deliverable review  
  • Develop requests for proposals (RFPs) for sub consulted study work and support evaluation and selection of partners  
  • Perform external partner proposal review and bid leveling to ensure alignment with project scope, technical requirements, and budget expectations  
  • Review and validate subconsultant deliverables to ensure alignment with project scope, quality standards, and technical requirements 
  • Serve as the primary liaison between study engineers, design teams, and clients  
  • Define project scope, deliverables, and study assumptions in collaboration with engineering teams  
  • Ensure proper integration of studies into design and construction workflows  
  • Lead technical review meetings and ensure alignment across disciplines (electrical design, commissioning, construction)  
  • Coordinate scheduling and manpower of internal teams with PM and directors to determine method of executing projects 
  • Ensure deliverables meet code compliance, safety standards (NFPA 70E), and client requirements  
  • Coordinate QA/QC reviews of all study outputs

Monitor and Control Project Financials (25%) 

  • Prepare, forecast and monitor project budgets, profitability, margins, bill rates and utilization and maintain overall accountability for the profitability of the project 
  • Communicate with the client when additional fees / change orders are required 
  • Identify potential project risks and develop / implement strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines 
  • Accountable for development of cost schedules / schedules of value for client progress billing 

Manage Stakeholder Relations (20%) 

  • Lead preparation of technical proposals and fee estimates for power systems studies projects, including scope definition, level of effort, and pricing 
  • Support project quoting efforts by developing scopes, assumptions, and resource plans aligned with client requirements 
  • Lead the promotion of the firm, service and expertise to existing or potential clients 
  • Maintain client relationship to ensure an ongoing positive relationship and work with clients to identify and develop new projects 
  • Primary contact for clients and build effective, long-term client relationships 
  • Ensure client satisfaction through active communication 

Administrative (5%) 

  • Review and distribute daily reporting  
  • Accountable for project contract administration 
  • Manage personal and project hours using company tools 
  • Create / complete departmental reports 

Technology, Digital Tools & AI-Enabled Efficiency 

  • Identify opportunities and lead the strategic use of technology, digital platforms, and AI-enabled tools to enhance efficiency through workflow automation, reduced manual effort, and improved accuracy in forecasting, documentation, reporting, and quality processes. 
  • Support adoption of emerging technologies - including advanced analytics, data visualization tools, and digital construction management platforms - to strengthen readiness, quality assurance, and project controls. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure technology solutions align with DLB standards for data security, privacy, and operational integrity. 
  • Promote a culture that embraces innovation, continuous improvement, and the strategic use of technology to optimize performance and scalability.

Position Requirements (Intermediate level for all the following) 

  • Knowledge of power system studies methodologies including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, and arc flash analysis  
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and components associated with mission critical facilities, including switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, and distribution equipment  
  • Knowledge of the operation, types, and settings of protective devices such as relays, circuit breakers, and fuses  
  • Ability to review power system study deliverables for technical accuracy, including one-line diagrams, coordination curves (TCCs), arc flash results, and study reports  
  • Working Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint as a platform for sharing information and tracking projects 
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements, including NEC, NFPA 70E, and relevant IEEE standards  
  • Knowledge of power system modeling software such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower  
  • Knowledge of project management principles including scope, schedule, budget, and resource management  
  • Ability to review engineering design packages for technical accuracy, constructability, and alignment with project requirements  
  • Knowledge of mission critical facility requirements, including reliability, redundancy, and uptime considerations  
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources  
  • Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management  
  • Skilled at using project and construction management tools such as Procore  
  • Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail  
  • Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously  
  • Ability to effectively plan and delegate the work of others  
  • Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports, and correspondence  
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both technical and non-technical contexts, including direct interaction with clients  
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with onsite and remote team members  
  • Ability to follow company and site safety requirements

Travel Requirements 

  • Approximately 10%, this may include travel to any or all 50 US states  
  • Travel is defined as physically leaving home on behalf of business activities including but not limited to client sites, meetings with other employees, meeting for business development purposes, running errands on behalf of the business, attending industry conferences, etc.
