Job description

General Description

Crane Worldwide Logistics ships freight across the globe. The Software Integrations group builds the software that connects the systems that make that happen. We are seeking an Engineering Manager to found our Corporate Integrations team. You will hire its engineers, establish its practices, and build its relationships with stakeholders across the business. This team will own integrations for the corporate systems that support our logistics business, such as finance, billing, and procurement. In practice that means moving data between systems and building APIs to provide a clean access layer to those systems for other engineering teams within Crane. This is primarily a leadership role, with hands-on contribution expected early as the team forms. This is the first role on a new team, which you will grow to three engineers. Our business stakeholders know their processes deeply, and a core part of this role is turning that knowledge into buildable integration designs and APIs. Your team owns and shapes its backlog, and the roadmap is driven in close partnership with the business. Our software is built in F# on AWS. Deep C# or other .NET experience with a willingness to lead a functional-programming team is welcome. Prior functional programming experience is a plus. This is a fully remote position within the United States and reports to the Director of Software Integrations.

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the team day to day, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
  • Work directly with business stakeholders to elicit and document requirements, translating process descriptions into well-scoped integration designs.
  • Own and prioritize the team's backlog in partnership with business stakeholders who drive the roadmap.
  • Oversee the software development lifecycle for the team's integrations and APIs, from requirements through deployment and maintenance.
  • Drive engineering best practices as part of a maturing engineering organization, including automated testing, CI/CD, code reviews, design reviews, monitoring, and observability.
  • Ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of the team's integrations and APIs through effective architecture and coding practices.
  • Contribute code and technical direction as needed, particularly in the team's early stages.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and engineering leadership to align with organization-wide standards.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and a demonstrated ability to work with non[1]technical stakeholders to discover, clarify, and document requirements
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
