Want to build the future of the cloud?
Overclock Labs is building the open source Supercloud: a distributed marketplace for cloud compute where anyone can become a provider by offering unused capacity, and anyone can access the cloud and become sovereign at scale. The work spans both the open source Akash protocol and the closed source products built around the Akash Network marketplace.
As more of the internet moves to the cloud, Overclock Labs is materializing that vision in an industry projected to reach over $2 trillion by 2030. Overclock Labs is a remote-first, distributed, and growing team, offering innovative, hands-on opportunities for career growth at the emerging intersection between crypto, AI, and permissionless compute.
The Role:
As a Software Engineer on the core engineering team, you will build and ship the chain and provider software the marketplace runs on. This is hands-on work across the Akash node and provider: writing Go, testing network upgrades before they reach mainnet, resolving provider issues in Kubernetes, and helping shape the feature specs that define new protocol capabilities. Because the team develops in the open, clear technical documentation is part of the job, from feature specs to upgrade and provider guidance. The role also contributes to closed source Overclock Labs efforts such as AkashML and Akash Homenode.
Design, test, and ship network upgrades, validating behavior on testnet before mainnet rollout
Diagnose and resolve provider-side issues in Kubernetes, from gateway and networking to workload orchestration across an independently operated provider fleet
Maintain the gRPC and protobuf API definitions and code generation shared by the node and provider
Cut, sign, and release provider and node software
Write feature specs and technical documentation that help providers, developers, and teammates understand and adopt new features
Contribute to closed source Overclock Labs products such as AkashML and Akash Homenode
Think creatively about attack vectors, failure handling, and other non-functional requirements
Continuously raise the standard of engineering excellence through best practices for coding, testing, and deployment
Strong, current experience writing Go in production
Hands-on Kubernetes experience, including debugging real workloads, networking, and cluster issues
Expert knowledge of systems design concepts and distributed computing
Keen eye for modeling scenarios in reproducible test environments
Experience in key security concepts: cryptography, key/certificate management, identity, and access management
Experience with test-driven development and the use of testing frameworks
Experience developing backend APIs and complex services
Ability to write clear technical documentation for both engineers and provider operators
You take a pragmatic approach to developing clean solutions to complex problems
Proven ability to work in an open source Git workflow, since the team develops in the open
Ability to stay communicative while working remotely and asynchronously
Experience building or upgrading Proof-of-Stake blockchains and decentralized infrastructure
Familiarity with Cosmos SDK, CometBFT/Tendermint
Experience with gRPC, protobuf, and code generation
Some Rust experience
Passion for AI, with experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting open source models with vLLM and SGLang
