Job description

Code and Theory is hiring a Senior Director to own the operating model for how marketing gets planned, executed, measured, and improved inside large enterprise organizations. The stakeholder map runs from CMO to marketing operations lead to MarTech and data lead. The transformation question spans all three: how does this organization need to be structured and tooled to run marketing at modern scale with AI and data in the workflow?

Seniority in this role does not mean distance from the work. The proof of a marketing transformation is a working model running inside the client's actual stack and the right person has shipped one before and will ship another here.

Depending on the client engagement, this role may operate in a forward-deployed capacity. That is not a separate track or program. It is a mode this work requires, and the expectation is readiness when the account calls for it.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Map the full marketing lifecycle end-to-end and diagnose where the current model breaks: fragmented ownership across brand, growth, and lifecycle teams, handoff failures between strategy and execution, tooling gaps between CDP/campaign/analytics platforms, capacity constraints
  • Design the target-state operating model and governance layer so brand, legal, and privacy can say yes at speed
  • Reinvent the campaign and content supply chain end-to-end, not just the org chart, so speed and transparency improve at every handoff rather than just on paper
  • Retro-engineer existing marketing workflows into AI-powered pipelines that are designed, not assembled from defaults
  • Configure and integrate marketing platforms against real brand and channel requirements across major martech ecosystems (Adobe Experience Platform, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, Segment, Tealium),
  • Wire new pipelines into the existing stack so they run inside the team's day rather than alongside it
  • Design human-in-the-loop patterns that keep marketing judgment, brand compliance, and privacy review in the workflow at the right points
  • Own VP-to-C-suite relationships across the CMO, marketing operations lead, and data/MarTech lead, plus the cross-functional teams that intersect to ship the work
  • Translate between cross-functional agendas, constraints, and platform capabilities without losing fidelity to any of them
  • Run executive workshops that convert strategic ambiguity into a roadmap the organization can act on, and shape commercial strategy: proof-point-driven programs, value-realization metrics that survive a CFO review, and account growth through proof-driven expansion
  • Train the marketing team, build the enablement and capability model that makes new tooling stick, and measure the gains so the new model keeps running after the engagement ends
  • Convert proven engagements into reusable accelerators, methods, and thought leadership that earn the next engagement, and shape partnerships with platform players (Adobe, Google, OpenAI, Anthropic)
  • Set the bar for what full-stack, AI-fluent, embedded delivery looks like in marketing

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • 12-15 years across marketing operations, martech, consulting, or transformation delivery, with meaningful time spent both advising and building
  • Fluency in modern marketing execution: how strategy becomes campaigns, where handoffs break, what data and privacy require before something activates
  • Track record of shipping in enterprise environments
  • Commercial instinct in shaping scopes, structuring pricing tied to outcomes, defending margin, and growing accounts through proof-driven expansion
  • Hands-on fluency across major martech stacks (Adobe Experience Platform, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, Segment, Tealium) with genuine depth in at least one
  • Working command of how martech stacks differ in architecture and tradeoffs; Adobe fluency is expected given partnership footprint
  • Working knowledge of the surrounding stack — CRM, CDP, DAM, data warehouse, identity resolution, consent management — plus fluency in LLMs, prompt design, orchestration, and automation tooling applied to marketing and audience workflows
  • Credibility with CMOs on brand strategy and growth, with marketing operations leads on execution and capacity, and with data and MarTech leads on architecture and integration and the ability to hold all three conversations without losing fluency in any of them
  • Bias toward shipping paired with systems thinking that can decompose a workflow into data, models, channels, quality gates, and human-in-the-loop steps that hold up at scale, and accountability to outcomes
