Job description

Overview:

National Debt Relief is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Licensing and Audit Senior Paralegal to join our team in the financial services sector. This individual will be responsible for the company’s state licensing compliance function by managing state licensing, audits, registrations, renewals, regulatory filings, and related compliance obligations. This role is responsible for tracking licensing requirements across multiple jurisdictions, preparing and submitting applications and renewals, maintaining accurate licensing records, and coordinating with internal stakeholders, regulators, outside counsel, and third-party vendors.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, comfortable managing deadlines, and experienced in regulatory, and licensing compliance matters.

This is a hybrid position based in New York City. The team member is expected to work from the New York City office a minimum of two days per week. Additional on-site presence may be required during regulatory examinations, audits, and other periods of business need.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare licensing documentation including, but not limited to, annual reports, renewal applications, new license applications, and ad hoc regulatory requests.
  • Assist with preparation for and response to regulatory examinations and third-party audits.
  • Coordinate and execute changes based on regulatory examination results.
  • Maintain and organize licensing documentation.
  • Prepare and deliver assigned reports to the Director of Compliance in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Keep management informed of key regulatory issues which impact the business.
  • Work with outside counsel and vendors as needed to support licensing and compliance projects.
  • Report compliance activities and audit/review findings and ensure corrective actions.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal team members and other teams within the company.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with consumer lending laws and regulations.
  • Various ad hoc projects.
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant licensing, regulatory, or compliance experience. Qualifying experience may have been gained in a licensing operations, regulatory filings, or compliance function at a lender, servicer, or other financial services company. Law firm paralegal experience is not required.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Detailed oriented and inquisitive in nature.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of regulations and ability to interpret them.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple projects with strict time limits on an ongoing basis.
  • Strong ability and desire to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience with state licensing, regulatory filings, corporate registrations, or financial services compliance strongly preferred.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Hands-on experience with the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) and state-specific licensing portals, including new applications, amendments, renewals, and annual reporting.

Compensation Information: Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for each position across the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This good faith pay range is provided in compliance with NYC law and the laws of other jurisdictions that may require a salary range in job postings. The salary for this position is $81,000.00 to $93,000.00 About National Debt Relief:
