Job description

We are looking for a Senior VMware Engineer to join an international technical team and work on a large-scale infrastructure environment currently based on VMware Cloud Foundation, with a major cloud transformation ahead. This is not a traditional VMware-only role. Over the next 18–24 months, the infrastructure will progressively move from VMware to Scaleway.

You will be part of this transformation, helping operate the current VMware environment while actively contributing to the migration towards the new cloud platform. If you are looking for a pure VMware role for the next five years, this may not be the right opportunity. If you want to add a large-scale European cloud migration to your experience and develop your profile beyond VMware, this could be an excellent next step.

What makes this opportunity interesting?

This role is designed for someone who wants to evolve, not simply maintain an existing environment.

You will start from a strong VMware foundation and progressively work across:

VMware → Virtualization → Cloud → Automation → IaC → Disaster Recovery → Migration

The move towards Scaleway will give you hands-on exposure to a real infrastructure transformation, allowing you to strengthen your cloud and automation skills while leveraging your existing VMware expertise.

What will you do?

As a Senior VMware & Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining and evolving a large-scale infrastructure environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Manage and maintain VMware vSphere and VMware Cloud Foundation environments.

• Work with vSphere Replication and Site Recovery Manager.

• Participate in the architecture, design, deployment and evolution of cloud solutions.

• Manage cloud infrastructure running on Scaleway.

• Implement changes and troubleshoot incidents.

• Administer and maintain systems, hardware and infrastructure configurations.

• Plan and execute recurring IT updates, including servers, storage and software upgrades.

• Manage patching, upgrades and migrations.

• Establish and maintain practices and processes to ensure services meet their defined availability targets.

• Analyse reports, trends and capacity forecasts and recommend appropriate action plans.

• Manage Disaster Recovery processes.

• Orchestrate and automate processes and deployments.

• Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.

• Carry out migrations between different environments.

• Take an active role in the progressive migration from VMware to Scaleway.

• Collaborate with international technical teams.

• Participate in the on-call rotation.

Salary & compensation

• €45,000–€50,000 gross per year, depending on experience and technical expertise.

Benefits

• Permanent contract from day one.

• Stable, long-term project.

• 50% remote working.

• No fixed office days.

• Offices in Valencia (Plaza América) or Madrid.

• 24 days of annual leave.

• 24 and 31 December off.

• Your birthday off.

• Reduced working hours during the summer.

• Friday afternoons off.

• Life insurance included automatically.

• Career development paths.

• Regular performance and career reviews.

• Genuine opportunities for internal promotion.

• Training and professional certifications paid for by the company
