Text Connects

Computer Software / SaaS

Innovative and on-trend e-commerce brands in beauty care, fashion, hand-made goods, health, jewelry, and much more, seek out Text Connects for our ability to deliver e-commerce solutions that supercharge their online sales. We’ve developed more than 100 Shopify stores earning us certifications as a Shopify Expert in both Development and Store Setup. Whether it’s enhancements or a platform migration, we’ve also made our mark in Magento, Oracle NetSuite SuiteCommerce, Woo Commerce, WordPress, and other e-commerce systems. Beyond e-commerce, we also offer custom application development and systems integration. For clients that means we never “hit the wall” and make you find other help with networks, back-end integration with ERP systems, even building out a CRM. Startups love us for respecting smaller budgets and finding less expensive ways to launch when the “runway” is short. Well-known brands such as Cabana Life, and Swaraovski, come to us for cost-effective and simple solutions to complex problems. Often when other “experts” have not met expectations. We’re often called on to help pioneer a new online initiative for a brick and mortar retailer or a startup needing a storefront now(!). On other projects we may be helping a sophisticated e-tailer with 10,000 SKUs, “credit card vaulting,” multiple-currency check-out, and alignment with a new strategy of “headless” commerce.

Job description

We’re looking for a mid-level Shopify Developer who can work confidently across storefront themes, apps, and integrations. You should understand how the Shopify ecosystem fits together and be comfortable deciding when to customize a theme, use an existing app, or build a custom solution.

You’ll help maintain and improve Shopify stores, troubleshoot issues, and turn business requirements into reliable, maintainable solutions. This role suits someone who can independently own well-defined projects, communicate tradeoffs clearly, and ask thoughtful questions when requirements need clarification.

What you’ll do

  • Build and maintain Shopify themes, including templates, sections, and responsive storefront features.
  • Translate designs and requirements into accessible, performant shopping experiences.
  • Evaluate, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot third-party Shopify apps.
  • Develop and maintain custom Shopify apps and integrations with external systems.
  • Work with Shopify APIs, webhooks, metafields, and metaobjects.
  • Diagnose issues across themes, apps, integrations, and store configuration.
  • Assess how app installations and theme changes affect performance, compatibility, and the customer experience.
  • Test changes before release, manage deployments, and document your work.
  • Collaborate with designers, project managers, and other developers to estimate work and deliver projects.

What we’re looking for

  • Approximately 2–4 years of professional development experience, including hands-on Shopify work.
  • Strong skills in Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with Shopify Online Store 2.0 themes, reusable sections, and the theme editor.
  • Practical experience developing or maintaining Shopify apps, beyond installing and configuring them.
  • Experience with a backend language or framework and working with APIs, authentication, webhooks, and data storage.
  • An understanding of Shopify’s core concepts, including products, variants, collections, customers, orders, and discounts.
  • Good judgment about the capabilities, limitations, costs, and maintenance requirements of third-party apps.
  • Familiarity with Git, code review, debugging, and testing.
  • Clear communication and the ability to explain technical decisions to nontechnical teammates.
  • The ability to take a task from requirements through implementation, testing, and release.
  • The ability to read documentation and make logical leaps between requirements and implementation.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Shopify Plus, Shopify Functions, or checkout extensions.
  • Familiarity with React, TypeScript, and GraphQL.
  • Experience integrating Shopify with fulfillment, inventory, subscription, or marketing platforms.
  • Experience improving storefront accessibility, SEO, and Core Web Vitals.
  • Agency experience or experience supporting multiple Shopify stores.

What success looks like

You deliver theme updates that are easy for merchants to manage, keep apps and integrations working reliably, and catch potential problems before they reach customers. You can recommend an approach, explain its tradeoffs, and follow through with tested, documented work.
