JOB SUMMARY
This role manages the day-to-day IT delivery of the “Lean & Operational Excellence Applications” portfolio – one of four application towers within Jabil’s Global Applications organization. The IT Manager reports to the IT Director, Global Applications, and is accountable for keeping approximately 30 applications running well for the sites and functions that use them: incident and service request performance, application lifecycle and releases, compliance, and the quality of work delivered by internal specialists and contracted partner resources.
This is a hands-on management role within a defined portfolio. Enterprise IT strategy, architecture standards and vendor contracts are set elsewhere in the organization; the IT Manager works within them and contributes the tower’s input. The role suits an experienced application delivery, support or implementation lead who wants to own a portfolio end-to-end, or a current IT manager looking for a well-scoped portfolio in a global manufacturing environment. It is not a role that sets enterprise direction or manages managers.
SCOPE AT A GLANCE
Portfolio: approximately 30 Lean & Operational Excellence applications, deployed across Jabil sites
Team: a compact internal team of Technical Application Owners, Product Owners and a solution & intake specialist, plus a similar number of contracted partner resources (scaled up/ down based on delivery demand)
Reports to: IT Director, Global Applications
Peers: three other application tower managers within Global Applications
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Run day-to-day IT delivery for the applications in the Lean & Operational Excellence tower – incidents, service requests, bug fixes – against agreed service levels
Monitor the tower’s ticket queue and produce the weekly delivery reporting; identify recurring issues and drive them to root-cause resolution rather than repeat rework
Own change and release coordination for the tower’s applications, minimizing operational disruption and keeping records audit-ready
Ensure application stability, performance, availability and compliance in a regulated manufacturing environment (GxP where applicable)
Plan and execute application lifecycle work – upgrades, patching, version currency, and retirement of applications that no longer earn their place in the portfolio
Work with business stakeholders, Technical Application Owners and Product Owners to capture enhancement demand, size it, and shape it into clearly defined, costed work packages
Hand approved demands to the delivery team best suited to the work – internal development teams or contracted partners – and hold them to scope, timeline and quality
Track the tower’s run costs and contracted service spend against the budget set by the IT Director; flag variances and capacity constraints early
Provide the cost, effort and dependency inputs needed for business cases prepared by the IT Director or project sponsors
Act as the working-level IT contact for Lean & Operational Excellence applications for site, regional and global process owners, translating between operational excellence language and application delivery
Execute the tower roadmap agreed with the IT Director, global process owners, as well as internal customers and stakeholders, and contribute the tower’s input into it
Work within Jabil’s enterprise architecture, security, infrastructure and compliance standards, partnering with those teams on the tower’s applications
Lead, coach and develop the tower’s internal team; set priorities, work schedules and performance expectations, and build the capabilities the portfolio needs
Manage the day-to-day performance of contracted external resources working on the tower’s applications; escalate commercial and contractual matters to the IT Director and vendor management
Select, develop and evaluate internal and external personnel to keep the tower properly staffed and skilled
Demonstrate a commitment to customer/ business service; anticipate, meet and exceed expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively, making business issues a priority
Understand and work within the global IT strategic direction
Support internal and external audits with evidence, corrective actions, and closure of system non-conformances
Enforce and follow all applicable procedures and policies within IT and the company
Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by leadership
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Hands-on experience running or supporting a portfolio of business applications in a multi-site manufacturing environment
Practical ITIL working knowledge – incident, problem, change and release management as daily practice, and use of globally, regionally or site-defined processes
Ability to size and scope enhancement requests: effort, cost, dependencies, and what can safely be deferred
Experience working with Lean, continuous improvement or operational excellence processes and the applications that support them (e.g. kaizen and CI tracking, material review, corrective action, shop-floor improvement tooling) is a strong plus
Familiarity with regulated/ GxP environments, validated systems and manufacturing operations
Experience managing contracted or outsourced resources against service levels and statements of work, including a working understanding of software licensing and service contracts
Previous experience in a matrix or shared-service/ CoE structure preferred
Ability to work effectively across time zones and under changing priorities and deadlines, including re-sequencing or declining work when capacity is committed
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field
6 to 8 years of experience in IT application delivery, support or implementation in a relevant IT position, including at least 3 years leading a team (direct reports and/ or a delivery team)
ITIL Foundation Certification preferred
Fluent English; additional languages an advantage
Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience
WORKING CONDITIONS
Regular business hours, with occasional out-of-hours involvement for releases, cutovers and major incidents across global time zones
Travel requirements: Domestic and/ or International, up to 20%.
