Chief Advancement Officer

About Us: Love Justice International (LJI) is a Christian nonprofit driven by a singular calling: to help the Church share the love of Christ by bringing justice for the least of these. This calling leads us to our mission: Driving the downfall of slavery by disrupting human trafficking in transit.

We are looking for faithful, compassionate, and mission-driven problem-solvers—people who think deeply about how to fight injustice and share Christ’s love in a broken world. This isn’t just a job; it’s a calling. If you’re searching for an easy, comfortable career, there are plenty of other options. But if you’re drawn to work that demands sacrifice, boldness, and faith, we invite you to apply and explore how you can be part of this mission.

Love Justice International has been recognized as a Best Christian Workplace for six consecutive years (2021–2026), most recently achieving the “Flourishing” category—the highest level of organizational health. Learn more about who we are, what sets us apart, and our open positions at lovejustice.ngo/careers.

What We Offer: Opportunities to truly change lives are exceptionally rare—but at LJI, that is exactly the kind of impact you can have. Although we’re a nonprofit, we operate as an “Impact Engineering” organization, focused solely on maximizing real-world outcomes. By combining scientific and business principles with field-led, locally informed insights, we intercept potential trafficking victims for under $112 each, creating a ripple effect that prevents several more individuals from enslavement. This remarkable efficiency underscores the profound, far-reaching impact your work can have on countless lives.

Joining LJI means stepping into an opportunity to deeply impact lives by combating injustice and expressing the transformative love of Christ. At LJI, you'll be part of a connected, purpose-driven team committed to impactful, kingdom-class excellence.

We offer competitive and thoughtful benefits packages tailored to the specific role and location of our staff. Benefit offerings are designed to support wellness, work-life balance, and overall staff care. Details of specific benefits will vary based on location, local standards, and applicable regulations.

Position Type:Full Time; Salaried; Stateside

Program and Position Overview: LJI has a highly impactful strategy for fighting human trafficking that has been shown to be effective in a variety of contexts around the world. The Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) will play a crucial role in overseeing our fundraising activities, donor relations, and strategic partnerships. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in fundraising, a deep understanding of donor psychology, and the ability to inspire and lead a team.

The CAO will report to the CEO and is responsible for building and executing an excellent fundraising , marketing and public relations plan, and understanding and learning the information technology systems to support the function, and should be prepared to spend 50% of their time traveling to meet with donors, staff, and visit the field.

Key ResponsibilitiesThe primary duty of the CAO is to manage and execute our fundraising efforts and to architect a plan that grows annual funding to $15 million within five years while holding fundraising efficiency at approximately 20%. This includes:

  • Develop with stakeholders, document, and implement a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising strategy.
  • Identify, cultivate, and secure new sources of funding, including grants, corporate partnerships, and individual donations.
  • Participate in the Love Justice Leadership team.
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of fundraising and marketing professionals, and model the knowledge, skills, and confidence expected of them by personally managing a portfolio of major donors.
  • Oversee the management of our donor database and ensure accurate record-keeping and donor reporting.
  • Set monthly leading indicators for each member of the team — [e.g., qualified donor visits, proposals submitted, asks made] — track performance against them in a standing monthly review, and hold team members accountable for results while providing coaching and mentorship.
  • Coordinate with our communications team to develop effective fundraising materials and campaigns.
  • Evaluate and report on the success of fundraising initiatives to the board and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee our marketing team and ensure that our marketing strategy supports and is in line with our wider development strategy.
  • Own digital donor acquisition: bring prospects with high giving likelihood into the top of the funnel, and manage acquisition cost as a direct input to overall fundraising efficiency.

Christian Culture: The work at Love Justice International (including the duties listed above) is conducted within a culture that strives to emulate Christ and make Him first and central. As part of our team, we seek staff who embrace the following expressions of what it means to Abide in Christ, our first Global Value:

  • Our primary identity is in Christ
  • We believe God is sovereign over injustice
  • We are made, called, and led By Christ
  • We commit to connect with Jesus
  • Prayer should be central to our work
  • Our conduct is our testimony

We believe that our mission is not only about what we do but how we do it—through faith, prayer, and obedience to Christ.

Qualifications:

  • Mission & Faith Alignment
    • Mature Christian faith and agreement with our Global Value to “Abide in Christ”
    • Knowledge, understanding, and agreement with how the Christian Gospel ministers to “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40) and guides us in our mission
    • Agreement with our Core Value “Be the Kingdom”(in mission execution and personal conduct)
    • Acknowledgment of our Statement of Faith
    • Strong passion for justice and advocacy on behalf of vulnerable populations.
  • Education & Experience
    • 10+ years of significant advancement experience in a leadership role, with a demonstrated record of growing revenue and building fundraising teams. Formal education is welcome but is weighed alongside demonstrated results.
  • Travel
    • Willingness to spend at least 30% of their time on the road engaging with donors and team members.
  • Competencies & Skills
    • High standard of personal discipline
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong experience with HubSpot and other CRMs, with emphasis on CRM data, donor reporting, fundraising metrics development, and monthly and annual donor trends; experience with Virtuous is a plus.
    • AI Proficiency: Willingness and aptitude to learn to use AI tools to improve your work and the processes you own; existing experience preferred.
