Job description

Here at FBS, our software products drive our success. In fact, we’re one of the top three vendors in the world for MLS software and still growing. Hiring the best and the brightest means we pay competitively, have strong healthcare benefits, provide a professional-yet-casual, resource-rich working environment (both local and remote) and enjoy the freedom to be individuals who work together towards common goals. Your peers aren’t co-workers, they’re owners; FBS is 100% employee owned. That means each employee-owner earns company stock in addition to their salaries for maintaining the company’s growth and success.

FBS is looking for a full stack engineer to build and improve customer-facing software across frontend, backend, and data integration layers. This role is best suited for someone who is comfortable moving between Ruby on Rails services, modern web UI development, system integrations, and the practical realities of shipping reliable product features. Experience working on customer-facing AI products is strongly preferred because this role will help shape user experiences where product quality, trust, and operational safety matter.

What you'll do:

  • Build and maintain backend services and web applications using Ruby on Rails.
  • Develop customer-facing frontend experiences using modern JavaScript frameworks, ideally React.
  • Design, implement, and support integrations with internal platforms, external APIs, and data services.
  • Translate product and technical requirements into well-scoped, testable changes.
  • Own features across the stack, from data modeling and service logic through UI behavior and production support.
  • Write clear, maintainable code with appropriate automated test coverage.
  • Troubleshoot bugs, production issues, integration failures, and data inconsistencies.
  • Participate in technical planning, estimation, code review, and iterative delivery practices.
  • Work closely with QA, product, and design to improve usability, reliability, and release readiness.
  • Help document systems, implementation decisions, edge cases, and operational considerations.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • 5-8 years experience in software engineering
  • Strong experience building and maintaining Rails applications in production environments
  • Strong experience working with APIs, data transformation, third-party integrations, and debugging cross-system behavior in production environments
  • Strong understanding of relational data modeling, debugging, and data flow across systems
  • Experience working with frontend technologies
  • Experience working with CI/CD, Docker, containers, etc.
  • Comfort owning work from concept through release, including testing, iteration, and follow-through
  • Experience on customer-facing AI features or products, especially where trust, clarity, and safety affected design and implementation
  • Ability to work effectively with non-engineering partners and communicate tradeoffs clearly

Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000
