The job: Sr Technical Sales Specialist – Cell Culture & Cell Therapy (Band 7)

Division: The Bio Production Group (BPG) is one of the fastest growing businesses in the company, supporting developers and manufacturers of biological-based therapeutics and vaccines. The Technical Sales Specialist Bio Production will be responsible for development of the Cell culture, Cell therapy & Supplements Business in the Nordic (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland) regions. You will be focused on upstream bioprocesses and developing business for the Gibco Cell culture portfolio of products, proprietary media and services.  The goal is to develop a business plan, mid and long-term objectives, sales and pricing strategy and customer satisfaction. You will work with customers from bench scale to commercialization & molecule design-in. You will operate at a senior level in the customer organization.

This position is field based, with a remote home office location convenient to reach all customers within the assigned sales territory. This role will require frequent travel (50%) and overnight stays. Some international travel may be required.

What will you do?

  • Seek new opportunities within assigned territory, leveraging product portfolio to build a foundation for long term growth.
  • Successfully implement and design-in our products into the manufacturing process of new molecules
  • Drive existing funnel of opportunities to accelerate closure rates and new business bookings
  • Develop a territory plan and work independently on daily activities to meet the plan goals
  • Apply intelligence and value-based prospecting to identify new potential opportunities and motivate change
  • Prioritize New Product Introduction (NPI) prospects within territory to increase adoption rates and revenue return
  • Collaborate and influence Bioproduction Account Managers (BAMs), Field Application Specialists (FAS) and Core Account Managers (CAMs) within their district to develop and lead account growth strategies
  • Initiate product evaluations during the sales process, coordinating activities between the BAM, FAS and Global Business unit.
  • Aid in development of technical solution-matching for complex opportunities
  • Work with R&D and Product Management to identify gaps in capability or capacity to address unmet customer needs
  • Act as trusted advisor for key contacts within accounts and bring in technical subject matter experts (SME's) as needed to advance the solution process
  • Acquire customer forecasts for new and existing base business
  • Represent Cell Culture at knowledge-based seminars and customer experience workshops
  • Stay ahead of competitive products and Feed voice of customer to the Business Unit

How will you get here?

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in a Life Science-related field, such as Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or Engineering
  • Shown sales experience and good track record of working in a role related to biotechnology and/or upstream process development and manufacturing. You must possess an in-depth understanding of the specific customer challenges and be able to propose satisfactory solutions
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role
  • Experience of using a CRM system such as Salesforce.com
  • A sales “hunter” with a commercial mentality, strongly motivated by desire to win new business
  • Ability to collaborate with and influence stake-holders at all levels within an organization
  • Shows good judgment, tact and diplomacy when working with internal and external customers
  • Able to handle confidential and proprietary information with sensitivity
  • Must possess self-motivation, passion, a positive demeanour, and perform as an excellent teammate
  • Business proficient in English
  • Full Clean Driving license
