Responsibilities:

LIXIL Public Partners (LPP) is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Lab Technician to perform routine water quality testing for domestic wastewater treatment systems. This role is crucial to our mission, ensuring data accuracy and integrity as we develop next-generation sanitation solutions for global communities.

You will be responsible for executing weekly laboratory testing across a range of chemical and environmental parameters, recording observations, and reporting findings into our online database. This position focuses primarily on testing execution, proper sample handling, and accurate recordkeeping.

Training will be provided across all sampling and testing protocols.

This is a part-time contract position. The contractor must be available for 8 - 16 hours per week. This position starts immediately and is expected to last for an initial period of 1 year. There is potential for contract extension based on project needs and contractor performance.

Qualifications:
  • Laboratory Testing: Conduct weekly routine water quality testing on domestic wastewater samples following standardized laboratory procedures and manufacturer instructions.
    • Measure indicator parameters including pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen (DO), and oxidation reduction potential (ORP) using a multi-parameter field reader.
    • Prepare samples for analysis with appropriate dilutions and filtration as needed.
    • Analyze various chemical analytes using Hach test kits and bench methods.
  • Recordkeeping and Data entry: Maintain an accurate, detailed, and legible lab notebook documenting sample details, dilution factors, test conditions, and test results. Promptly input data into designated digital spreadsheets to ensure real-time visibility for the engineering team.
  • Laboratory Maintenance and Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory working environment adhering to standard biological and chemical safety protocols.

Soft Skills: Ability to work independently in lab settings, manage multiple tasks, and synthesize observations into project insights.

Communications: Ability to communicate testing results clearly to technical teams.

Safety Compliance: Strict commitment to following personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and laboratory safety guidelines.

Travel: Occasional travel may be required to support field sites or project needs (less than 10% of the time).

Minimum Required

Education: Coursework towards an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable science field (biology, chemistry, environmental) and/or coursework in basic chemistry/laboratory practices.

Preferred

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable science field (biology, chemistry, environmental)

Technical Skills: Proven experience with hands-on mechanical equipment, troubleshooting system processes (specifically in wastewater or water treatment), and operating in laboratory or prototyping environments.
