In this role, you will design, optimize, and support scalable, compliant solutions that power payroll accuracy, operational efficiency, and an excellent employee experience.

You’ll partner closely with Payroll, HR, Finance, and IT, lead system enhancements and Workday releases, and serve as a trusted expert for complex payroll and time-related challenges. This role blends hands‑on Workday configuration with strategic system ownership and cross‑functional leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Workday System Ownership

  • Own the design, configuration, and ongoing optimization of Workday Payroll
  • Translate business and regulatory requirements into scalable, best‑practice Workday solutions.
  • Lead Workday semi‑annual releases, including impact analysis, testing, documentation, and deployment.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex payroll, time, and absence issues.

Configuration & Technical Delivery

  • Configure payroll processing (on‑cycle, off‑cycle, retro, on‑demand), earnings, deductions, and payroll schedules.
  • Maintain U.S. payroll compliance across federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Configure and support Time Tracking rules, calculations, schedules, validations, and Absence accruals and eligibility.
  • Ensure payroll and time-related integrations are reliable and compliant.

Reporting, Controls & Support

  • Provide Tier 3 support for payroll system and data issues.
  • Build and maintain Workday reports, dashboards, audits, and calculated fields.
  • Support SOX controls, audits, testing, documentation, and regulatory changes.

Leadership & Enablement

  • Mentor HRIS and payroll system resources and promote Workday best practices.
  • Lead design discussions, communicate risks and tradeoffs, and drive alignment across stakeholders.
  • Deliver training and documentation that improves adoption and confidence in Workday processes.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 Years of Workday experience, including 2+ years supporting Payroll
  • Strong U.S. payroll expertise in multi‑state, complex environments (5,000+ employees).
  • Hands‑on experience with Workday configuration, reporting, integrations, and release management.
  • Experience supporting SOX‑controlled payroll environments.
  • Workday certifications in U.S. Payroll preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives and deliver compliant, scalable solutions.
