Innovation is at the heart of what we do. By combining engineering, digital technologies and clinical expertise, we create products that have a tangible impact on people’s lives. Embla Medical brings together leading brands and international teams dedicated to advancing the prosthetics and orthotics industry.

At our Livingston site, we develop advanced upper-limb prosthetic solutions (prosthetic hands, wrist rotators, ..). We are now looking for a Senior Mobile Apps Developer M/F to strengthen our Össur R&D team and help develop the applications and cloud services that connect patients and clinicians with our devices.

Your responsibilities

You will work across the full application lifecycle, from design and development through testing, verification, and release. You will collaborate closely with firmware engineers, technical managers, clinical teams, end users, and Global Product Managers.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain mobile and companion applications for connected medical devices.

  • Build intuitive and accessible user experiences for patients and clinicians.

  • Integrate applications with devices using Bluetooth Low Energy, backend services, databases, and APIs.

  • Contribute to cloud infrastructure using AWS or Microsoft Azure, including software deployment, data logging, database integration, and API development and maintenance.

  • Collaborate with firmware and electronics teams to deliver reliable end-to-end solutions.

  • Troubleshoot defects using logs, telemetry, and debugging tools, including root-cause analysis.

  • Apply software engineering best practices, including code reviews, automated testing, version control, and CI/CD.

  • Produce clear technical documentation and support verification, traceability, and risk-management activities.

  • Provide internal technical support for applications and cloud infrastructure.

Your profile

  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience

  • Strong experience developing production-quality applications for:

    • iOS using Swift or Objective-C

    • Android using Kotlin or Java

  • Strong experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS or Microsoft Azure.

  • Experience with APIs, databases, backend services, and cloud integration.

  • Experience connecting mobile applications to hardware or embedded systems, ideally using Bluetooth Low Energy.

  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and automated-testing skills.

  • Experience across the full product development lifecycle.

  • Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Willingness to learn and produce clear, structured technical documentation.

  • Strong communication skills and fluency in English.

Nice to have

  • Experience in the medical device sector or another regulated environment.

  • Knowledge of MDD or MDR.

  • Exposure to IEC/EN 62304.

  • Windows application development using C#.

Previous medical device experience is not essential. However, you should be comfortable working within structured development processes and documenting your work thoroughly.

Because you will regularly test software with physical devices and prototypes, this role is based mainly at our Livingston site, with approximately one remote working day per week depending on team and project requirements.
