Job description

About the Firm

Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP is part of a global law practice providing legal services to a broad range of clients, from small and mid‑sized businesses to the world’s leading multinational organizations. The firm combines deep local knowledge with global reach, supporting clients across industries and jurisdictions. Eversheds Sutherland is recognized for its collaborative culture, commitment to client service, and delivery of practical, commercially informed legal solutions.

Position Summary

A Business Technology Advisor works closely with the Director of Innovation and the firm's business services groups, providing support for a variety of operational applications and processes. This role is crucial in ensuring that our business professionals have the right tools and processes to perform their work efficiently and effectively. A Business Technology Advisor will have a combination of strong technical skills, a consulting approach, and excellent coaching skills.

A Business Technology Advisor is critical to ongoing experimentation, evaluation, and scaled adoption of emerging technologies, including generative AI, automation (Power Automate, Copilot Studio, Claude), and workflow redesign across the firm's operational functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Technology Assessment and Support

  • Collaborate with business services groups to understand their needs and identify the right technology solutions to enhance operational service delivery.
  • Evaluates, implements, and adopts operational and cross-functional solutions - including Power Automate flows, Copilot Studio agents, and Dataverse-backed applications - to improve efficiency and productivity. Maintains an awareness of emerging tools and technologies.
  • Monitors and analyzes the effectiveness of implemented technology solutions and makes necessary adjustments.
  • Provides training and coaching for business professionals on new technologies and processes.

AI Experimentation and Solution Design

  • Works with business teams to identify use cases/tasks where AI and automation can be used to improve work quality and speed.
  • Applies appropriate level of experimentation to use cases to ensure the best results; documents the differences in prompts, workflows, flows, and agents.
  • Shares outcomes with business teams and provides training and support as needed.

Process Analysis and Solution Build

  • Sits with business teams to map current workflows and identify where manual effort, duplication, or delay can be removed before reaching for a tool.
  • Designs and, in many cases, builds the solution directly, including Power Automate flows, Copilot Studio agents, Dataverse-backed apps, and M365 Copilot (or Claude) prompts and agents.
  • Maintains a library of proven flows, agents, and templates so solutions built for one business function can be redeployed for another rather than rebuilt from scratch.

Adoption, Enablement & Change Management

  • Designs and supports adoption programs, including onboarding plans, training exercises, communications, and post-implementation support.
  • Monitors usage analytics and determines appropriate ongoing awareness campaigns and training. Contributes to the "featured technology" program and attends relevant Innovation working group sessions.
  • Identifies opportunities to operationalize technology-assisted workflows (whether GenAI, Power Platform, or otherwise) and collaborates with key stakeholders, including role redesign where appropriate, to increase adoption.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the firm's business services functions.

Governance and Collaboration

  • Ensures that everything built follows the firm's data security, retention, and AI governance standards, working closely with Information Technology, Information Security, and Risk.
  • Works well with colleagues throughout the firm, but particularly with the Information Technology, Training, and Legal Technology Advisor teams, given shared tools, platforms, and standards.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Project or product management experience.
  • Strong understanding of back-office and operational workflows across functions such as Accounting/Finance, HR, Marketing/BD, Practice Management, and IT.
  • Working fluency with Microsoft 365 (Copilot, Teams, SharePoint) and the Power Platform (Power Automate, Copilot Studio); working knowledge of data concepts and integration as a backbone for governed solutions.
  • Strong understanding of, and work with Claude as it relates to both individual and departmental use.
  • General automation literacy - enough understanding of APIs, integrations, and basic scripting to have credible conversations with IT and vendors, and to know when a problem needs a developer versus a citizen-development solution.
  • Familiarity with emerging AI infrastructure, including Model Context Protocol (MCP) and similar frameworks that connect AI agents to firm systems, is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and a lifelong learner mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a virtual/hybrid team environment.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to present ideas in a business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Discretion in working with confidential data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in professional services, a law firm business services function, or a similar operational environment preferred.
  • Certification or coursework in AI, process improvement (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma), Change Management, or related technologies preferred.

Education

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • An advanced degree or relevant certification (e.g., process improvement, project management, AI technology) is a plus but not required.

This is a remote role and the salary ranges for this position vary depending on the geographic location and other factors such as experience, internal equity, market data, and job-related considerations.
