The Virtualization Team designs, deploys, and operates FactSet’s global virtualization infrastructure—spanning traditional vSphere environments to emerging hyperconverged and cloud-native platforms. • Automation & Modern Tooling: Streamline infrastructure management using PowerShell, PowerCLI, Terraform, and AI tools to accelerate development and incident response.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with platform and application teams to define virtualization requirements and deliver stable, high-performance infrastructure.
  • Troubleshooting & Documentation: Monitor performance, resolve system issues, and maintain clear operational documentation to ensure high availability.
  • On-Call Support: Participate in a periodic 24/7 on-call rotation utilizing a follow-the-sun model to minimize off-hours disruption (Each individual is on-call for 1 week about once every 1.5 months).

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi administration in an enterprise environment
  • Strong proficiency with PowerShell and PowerCLI scripting and automation
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn modern cloud-native technologies (Kubernetes, containerized workloads)

  • Virtualization & Systems: Strong experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, host clustering (HA/DRS), x86 server hardware, and mixed Windows/Linux environments.
  • Storage & Networking: Proficiency in vSAN, VMFS/NFS, SAN/NAS integration, virtual switching (vDS), VLANs, TCP/IP, and DNS.
  • Automation & IaC: Hands-on experience automating infrastructure using PowerShell, PowerCLI, and Terraform.
  • Troubleshooting & Operations: Strong analytical, project management, and prioritization skills with a proven ability to handle complex technical issues and multi-task effectively.

Additional /Desired Skills:

  • Kubernetes & Containers: Foundational understanding of Kubernetes concepts and cluster operations, or strong motivation to develop this expertise.
  • Hyperconverged Infrastructure: Experience administering KubeVirt and Rancher Harvester-based hyperconverged infrastructure, or strong motivation to develop this expertise
  • Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure: Familiarity with public clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure), hybrid architectures, and alternative hypervisors (KVM, QEMU, Proxmox).
  • Storage & GitOps: Exposure to cloud-native storage (Longhorn, Ceph) and GitOps workflows using Git, ArgoCD, or Flux.
  • Observability & Growth: Understanding of monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Aria Operations) paired with a strong drive to learn modern cloud-native systems.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or relevant degree
