Overview:

We're hiring Platform Product Managers to develop secure, scalable, enterprise-grade platform capabilities that support GitHub’s ecosystem of developers, partners, integrators, and enterprise customers. You'll define the capabilities that drive platform adoption, ecosystem growth, and the next generation of AI-powered software development.

Candidates will be considered for Product Management roles across teams, including:

  • GitHub Copilot – Shaping the future of AI-assisted software development, developer workflows, agentic experiences, and the tools millions of developers rely on every day.
  • Core Productivity – Defining and evolving the experiences developers use every day to plan, collaborate, build, and ship software.
  • Platform & Enterprise – Building the foundational platforms, services, APIs, and enterprise capabilities that power GitHub at scale.

What We're Looking For:

You understand that great customer experiences are built on great platforms. You are a highly technical, data-driven systems thinker with experience building enterprise-grade platform capabilities (e.g., governance, security, and platform guarantees).

  • Significant experience working on AI-powered products and bringing machine learning or AI capabilities to customers.
  • Demonstrated success driving platform adoption, ecosystem growth, and large-scale product initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of developer ecosystems, APIs, SDKs, and partner integration models.
Responsibilities:
  • Build the platforms, APIs, and enterprise capabilities that power GitHub's next generation of developer and AI experiences, while enabling a thriving ecosystem of partners, integrators, and developers to extend and build on top of GitHub
  • Leverage telemetry, customer signals, business insights, and usage data to prioritize investments and inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, applied science, design, and business stakeholders to define and execute the product strategy for key platform and ecosystem initiatives.
  • Partner closely with engineering, applied science, and research teams to bring AI-powered platform experiences to market.
  • Drive sound technical decisions through strong engineering partnerships and technical credibility.
  • Move comfortably between strategy and execution, balancing long-term vision with rapid delivery.
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: 

  • 10+ years experience in product/service/project/program management, software development, product design, or related field  

    • OR Bachelor's Degree in related field AND 8+ years experience in product/service/project/program management, software development, product design, or related field 

    • OR equivalent experience 

  • Experience building enterprise-grade platform capabilities (e.g.,  governance, security, and platform guarantees) for AI-powered and/or developer-facing products.   

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in applied AI, machine learning, data science, or closely related technical disciplines.
  • Experience leveraging data-driven decision making to inform product strategy and investment prioritization.
Compensation Range: The base salary range for this job is USD $160,200.00 - USD $425,000.00 /Yr.

These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.

This position will be open for a minimum of 3 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.
