This individual will leverage a strong understanding of the E-rate process, along with deep knowledge of state procurement and funding cycles, to position Zayo early in the buying process and establish preference before formal solicitations are issued.

Location: This remote work position will consider applicants that reside in the Charlotte, North Carolina metro area.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively develop opportunities ahead of formal RFPs by engaging district technology leaders, E-rate consultants, and state education consortia to shape project scope and requirements.

  • Leverage a deep understanding of the E-rate program (FCC Form 470/471 process) to help customers align technology plans and funding strategies with Zayo’s service capabilities.

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with IT, procurement, and administrative leaders across State, Local, and Education entities.

  • Generate new sales revenue by promoting Zayo’s infrastructure and managed solutions across assigned territories.

  • Present customized proposals and manage customers through a strategic and consultative sales cycle.

  • Maintain existing business through renewals and long-term contracts while driving net-new growth.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Solutions Architecture, and Legal to design tailored network and managed service solutions.

  • Accurately track activities, forecasts, and funnel development in Salesforce and related systems.

  • Deliver consistent sales performance against quarterly and annual revenue targets.

  • Represent Zayo at regional education and public sector events, building visibility within key cooperative and consortium programs (e.g., ESCs, Equalis, DIR, TIPS).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder accounts in the Public Sector or Education verticals.

  • Demonstrated expertise in the E-rate program and ability to align Zayo’s services with funding cycles, RFP timelines, and eligible service categories.

  • Proven success developing opportunities before procurement begins, shaping specifications, and influencing project design.

  • Familiarity with state contract vehicles, cooperative purchasing programs, and education consortiums.

  • Strong understanding of Fiber Infrastructure, IP, SD-WAN, Security, and Managed Services.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills across technical and executive audiences.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment while managing a high volume of work.
