Who We Are

United Therapeutics (Nasdaq: UTHR) seeks to travel down the corridors of indifference to develop treatments for rare, deadly diseases. We were founded in 1996 by a family seeking a cure for their daughter’s pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Today, we have six FDA-approved therapies that treat PAH, pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD) and neuroblastoma, a rare pediatric cancer. Our near-term pipeline seeks to develop additional therapies for PAH and pulmonary fibrosis (PF).


The cure for end-stage life-threatening diseases like PAH, PH-ILD, PF, and many others is an organ transplant, but only a small percentage of donated organs are available to address the vast need. For this reason, we are working to create manufactured organs to address the shortage of kidneys, hearts, lungs, and livers available for transplant. We believe an unlimited supply of tolerable, transplantable organs will eliminate the transplant waiting list and cure end-stage organ diseases for which transplant is not currently an option.

Who You Are

The Regional Cardiopulmonary Specialist (RCPS) will be responsible for increasing and maintaining sales of all UT products assigned within defined Accounts/HCPS's of targeted physicians within their region and targeted accounts, with a primary emphasis on Remodulin. They will accomplish this through effective territory management and execution of sales/marketing strategies. The RCPS will be an important educational resource for all physician, other healthcare professionals (HCP's) involved in the treatment of PAH. This role may be selected by his/her Supervisor to mentor individuals in an effort of ongoing training. The RCPS will act as a role-model for other CPS's in terms of sales skill, product knowledge and business acumen. They will also provide relevant feedback to leadership on national and regional initiatives.

  • Territory Management: Responsible for an assigned geographic territory and designated accounts to actively interface with the PAH community; This includes promotion of marketed products according to corporate guidance; Build and maintain professional relationships with various customer types (MDs, NPs, PAs, RNs, and specialty distributor staff) to ensure maximal product messaging and education on Remodulin, Orenitram, Tyvaso, according to package insert; Achieve or exceed company assigned goals; Analyze sales reports and develop business plans to increase business; Develop and implement strategies to drive sales in key accounts; Coordinate activities with other field-based team members (including RBD, MDD, CPS, field-based personnel to optimize selling, education and support efforts; Appropriately and effectively utilize available resources to drive sales with key customers; Develop and maintain expert knowledge of disease state, product, and competitive landscape
  • Administrative: Utilize sales force automation system to maximize territory effectiveness and record-keeping; Complete all UT administrative requirements in a timely manner, including but not-exclusive to expense reports, call reporting; Comply with all reporting requirements as outlined in UT Commercial Compliance Guidelines; Adhere to all corporate, external regulatory, and UT guidelines related to the promotion of our products; Responsible for working within assigned budget including other designated expenses; Responsible for management of all territory expenses for travel, speaker program budget, home office, etc.
  • Resource Support: Attend local/regional/national medical PAH symposia and conferences, as required, in order to provide education and promotion support to key stakeholders in attendance and to enhance understanding of treatment trends; Attend patient support group meetings and stay current with PAH community in accordance with our PHA’s guidelines re. Support Group interaction; Participate (as directed) in project teams with sales and marketing teams to establish programs and resources to increase Remodulin, Orenitram, Tyvaso sales and awareness
  • All other duties as required

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in nursing or life science) or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience within the pharmaceutical, specialty pharmaceutical or biotech market places successfully selling to specialists physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals (i.e.; cardiologists, pulmonologists, etc.)
  • 4+ years of experience in specialty pharmaceutical/biotech sales
  • 4+ years of experience selling within the institutional or major teaching centers environment
  • 1+ years of documented experience facilitating training workshops with new hires and/or colleagues at POA/Regional Meetings (Internal UT Employees Only)
  • 2+ years of experience as a successful Cardiopulmonary Specialist, consistently exceeding sales targets and exhibiting UT’s core competencies. Current promotional criteria is outlined in the UT Sales Force Promotional Criteria document (Internal UT Employees Only)
  • DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State in good standing
  • Track record of selling excellence across multiple regions
  • Demonstrated decision-making ability, planning and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent execution of marketing strategies and utilization of marketing resources including educational speaker programs
  • Demonstrated territory management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Key collaborator with all teammates within in across various departments
  • Expert level knowledge of UT products and services

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with Cardiovascular and/or Pulmonary Disease Therapeutic areas
  • 2+ years of experience selling pharmaceutical products distributed through specialty pharmacies
