Senior Cloud Engineer / VMWare – Azure & GCP

Location: Remote – Mexico
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM U.S. Eastern Time. Occasional weekend availability is required for emergencies.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and management of secure, scalable, and resilient enterprise cloud infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

This is a hands-on cloud engineering position focused on cloud infrastructure, architecture, migration, automation, and operational support. It is not a role focused exclusively on DevOps or CI/CD.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure, and resilient cloud infrastructure across Azure and GCP.
  • Lead and support cloud migration initiatives while applying architecture and security best practices.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or Google Cloud Deployment Manager.
  • Support containerized workloads using Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Docker.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and engineering support for VMware environments as needed.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Security, Infrastructure, and Application teams to support cloud-native development and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitor cloud environments for performance, availability, security, and cost optimization.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Participate in occasional weekend emergency support as business needs require.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of relevant cloud engineering or infrastructure experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Working knowledge of VMware at a Level 3 support or engineering level, including advanced troubleshooting and technical escalations.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with distributed technical teams.
  • Professional English proficiency, including the ability to participate in technical meetings, communicate with U.S.-based stakeholders, and prepare technical documentation in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience as a Senior Windows Engineer or Windows Administrator.
  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, or similar container technologies.
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, ARM templates, Deployment Manager, or similar tools.
  • Scripting and automation experience using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or comparable languages.
  • Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and working with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar tools.
  • Experience with hybrid-cloud environments and multi-cloud strategies.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
  • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect certification.
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration or a related certification.

What Success Looks Like

The ideal candidate is a well-rounded cloud infrastructure engineer with strong, hands-on experience in both Azure and GCP, along with sufficient VMware knowledge to provide Level 3 support and engineering assistance.

Candidates whose backgrounds are primarily focused on DevOps pipelines or CI/CD tooling without direct cloud infrastructure ownership may not meet the core requirements of this position.
