About the role:

You’ll strengthen test coverage and release quality across Salmon’s platform, helping protect the reliability of high-volume payment systems and complex integrations. This is a hands-on role combining API and backend testing, automation, production data analysis, defect investigation, and end-to-end ownership of release quality.

What you’ll do:

• Test backend services, APIs, microservices, payment flows, and system integrations.

• Design and execute manual and automated tests for new functionality, regression scenarios, and production releases.

• Work with real production data, logs, and database records to validate system behavior and investigate issues.

What you’ll own:

• Design, maintain, and execute test cases, validation checks, test plans, and regression scenarios.

• Build and maintain automated test suites where automation provides practical value.

• Plan and execute testing for new features, APIs, and system integrations.

• Validate business rules, transaction flows, data consistency, and service-to-service communication.

• Analyze defects and production incidents, identify root-cause patterns, and clearly document findings.

• Verify fixes and oversee the release-testing lifecycle through final quality sign-off.

• Monitor product behavior after release and support the investigation and resolution of production issues.

• Maintain clear, structured testing documentation in Jira and Confluence.

• Collaborate closely with engineering, product, operations, and support teams to improve product quality.

What makes you a strong fit:

• 3+ years of experience as a QA Engineer, QA Automation Engineer, or Software Developer, ideally within fintech or banking.

• Hands-on experience building and maintaining automated test suites.

• Strong experience with API testing, backend validation, and system integrations.

• Good understanding of microservice architecture and common integration patterns.

• Strong SQL skills for data analysis and validation.

• Experience with regression, integration, end-to-end, and release testing.

• Experience supporting production systems and investigating incidents.

• Familiarity with GitLab, GitOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.

• English proficiency at B2 level or higher, with effective written and verbal communication skills.

• A structured approach to testing and the ability to take full ownership of quality-related tasks.

Good to have:

• Understanding of how acquirers, issuers, and payment systems operate.

• Knowledge of anti-money laundering processes and regulatory principles.

• Hands-on experience testing antifraud systems, including rule engines or scoring models.

• Understanding of fraud risk signals and transaction-scoring concepts.

• Knowledge of core banking systems and principles.

• Experience with performance and load-testing tools.

• Previous experience testing applications at a financial institution.
