Continuous monitoring of the trust network both inside and outside an enterprise network is necessary to ensure that the credentials being used are not only valid, but also not being used in a way that would indicate misuse. CertiPath analyzes identities to ensure they: - Provide the situational awareness by tracking CA-based availability & security issues - Ensure that credentials used are based on valid contents & constraints - Monitor certificate authority availability to support device & user validation - Reduce detection time of possible credential authority availability risks

Job description

Want to energize your career?

Looking for stability with the freedom to innovate? At CertiPath you can have both while helping make the world more secure. We’re seeking a Product Owner to partner with stakeholders and developers, owning the product lifecycle from release planning through delivery. Join our team and make an impact at CertiPath.

I’ve never heard of CertiPath. What do you do?

CertiPath is a trusted leader in high-assurance digital identity and access management solutions. Since 2004, we have helped commercial organizations and government agencies modernize how people securely access facilities, networks, and critical resources. With the stability of an established company and the agility of a growing technology business, we foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous growth. Our mission is simple: enable secure, trusted access in an increasingly connected world.

What will my responsibilities include as Technical Product Owner at CertiPath?

You’ll work in a fast-paced environment with real influence over what our products look and feel like. As Technical Product Owner, you’ll partner with Product Management to shape the roadmap and lead a team of developers and QA analysts in delivering software and products our clients love. This is a hands-on technical role: you’ll review code, evaluate design tradeoffs with engineers, and use AI-assisted development tools as part of the team’s daily workflow.

Play a key role during release planning:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Products to set the product vision.
  • Gather and prioritize feature requirements from stakeholders based on value-over-cost analysis.
  • Present prioritized backlog items and document key dependencies for each release epic.

Lead the team during development sprints:

  • Break down epics into stories with clear acceptance criteria, and lead sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Prioritize and manage the Jira backlog, triaging support tickets and proactively preventing bottlenecks.
  • Review and approve all story and bug tickets, and lead story refinement sessions to align the team on acceptance criteria and estimates.
  • Present feature demos to stakeholders throughout the release, incorporating their feedback.
  • Participate in code reviews for .NET (C#) pull requests, evaluating changes against acceptance criteria, coding standards, and security requirements.
  • Engage in technical design discussions with engineers, understanding architectural tradeoffs well enough to prioritize technical debt alongside features.
  • Champion effective use of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) across the team, including establishing norms for AI-generated code review.

Direct the team during product delivery:

  • Confirm release scope is met for each epic, and approve quality test plans and results.
  • Create user guide documentation and support the team in any way needed to ensure a successful delivery.
  • Validate that delivered functionality is technically sound, not just functionally complete, by reviewing test coverage and code quality metrics.

Location

  • Remote – East Coast or Central U.S.

What qualifications do you look for?

  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a government clearance.
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering, or equivalent hands-on software development experience.
  • 6+ years of experience as a Product Owner
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience, or a demonstrated ability to read and review production code.
  • Experience with Atlassian Agile products; specifically, JIRA and Confluence
  • A successful track record of leading distributed development teams across multiple U.S. time zones.
  • A technical background – comfortable with code reviews and core software engineering concepts.
  • Working proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem sufficient to review pull requests and provide substantive feedback.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Git-based workflows (pull requests, branching strategies, CI/CD pipelines).
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants or LLM-based tools in a software development workflow, and informed opinions about where they help and where they don’t.
  • Experience with Windows operating systems (Windows Server).
  • A strong, self-directed ability to learn new tools and technologies independently.
  • Experience leading sprints, stand-ups, and other Agile ceremonies.

We’re extra impressed by folks who have:

  • Have a master's degree in computer science, product management, information technology, cybersecurity, business, or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Are familiar with high-assurance identity management software solutions
  • Have demonstrated experience in using technical judgment with a significant impact on program success
  • Are well-versed, skilled, and disciplined in system engineering processes
  • Experience building or shipping features that incorporate AI/LLM capabilities into products (not just using AI tools).
  • Prior experience as a software engineer before moving into product roles.
  • Familiarity with secure development practices (SAST/DAST, dependency scanning) and reviewing code with security in mind.
